You must have run the launcher from the desktop shortcut, which is a standalone mode for users who do not want to run Steam. It does need a separate game installation if used that way, and of your games only Stellaris was ported to that platform.

You should run these games from their Steam PLAY button, which will use the same launcher installation in a Steam-compatible mode.

That error log really looks like a corrupted install, if there are no mods involved here.

Did you do it exactly like this?

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-EU4
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
- run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
- subscribe to a few mods

- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Is that any better?

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Can you start these games directly from their .exe files in File Explorer? NOT from the desktop shortcut.

Is that save started under 1.6.1.2 or the current patch?

If the former, please revert to that game version in the Steam betas tab for this game. If the latter, please post that save in Bug Reports here, thanks!

works on version 1.5.1.1 but none after which makes me think it is still the avx issue. processor was released in 2019, supports avx and avx2, but doesn't support avx512 which i don't know if that's what paradox is running.

Then you have an unrelated problem. Please make a new thread here with full system details and problem history, thanks.

This game always had a launcher, the only difference is now it's the same one across all the current games, rather than a different one for each game.

Either way, its purpose is to let you choose mods, DLCs, and game settings before getting into the game itself.

Are you having some issue with it?

Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Is that any better?

No clear cause of this problem in there, but you may as well update that nVidia driver to August 2022

When I run that it tells me that the program can not be started because api-ms-win-crt-string-l1-1-0.dll is missing on my computer.
That DLL is part of Visual C++ so you are still missing some of those.

In the Windows Control Panel uninstall ALL instances of VC++ 2010 AND 2015/17/19/22. There may be several of each.

Ah, that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

stellaris.exe and dowser.exe (in the Steam Stellaris folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.10/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT stellaris.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

That settings file looks like the game never really started. I don't know why that would be!

My best guess is there is a Windows problem getting in the way here, although I see no sign of what that might be in your dxdiag.

Please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

What happens if you now run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer, any error show then?

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log
