Sorry, when you say "it has worked" you mean the problem has occurred on this third machine? Or has not occurred?

I see no issues in that file. Can you attach the other files I asked for please, taken just after one of these crashes.

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

And did you test with NO mods at all enabled?

That machine also only has an Intel video system well below the minimum requirement, so I'm not surprised it has the same problem. It also has less than the required 4gb of available system memory.

Here are the published minimum hardware requirements:
  • Processor: 4th Generation Intel i3 CPU or equivalent
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel HD 4600/Geforce 620/Radeon 6450 or equivalent GPUs with 1 GB of video RAM

And recommended:
  • Processor: 5th Generation Intel i5 CPU or equivalent
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Geforce 750 Ti or equivalent with 4GB of video RAM

Do you have access to a machine that meets these, to test on?

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters

  1. Go to Windows Control panel.
  2. Click on Network & Internet.
  3. Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
  4. Click on Change adapter options.
  5. Right-click all network adap...

Very clearly a video/graphics issue from that log. Can you confirm those settings from post #2 above are still all in effect?

If so, not try editing that pdx_settings.txt . Find the Renderer line and replace DX11 with OpenGL - does the game at least start then? It may be slow.

When you start the game from the Steam PLAY button, the first thing you see is our launcher, yes? Can you log into that launcher there okay?

We don't have enough evidence to say either way. If it is a game bug it's been there since the last game update back in May; why would it suddenly start happening to you only now? Why would it not be happening to every player ?

Do you have access to any other computer to test this problem on?

I don't actually see a cause for this in those files, all looks fine. You may as well update that nVidia driver to August 2022 though https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

If that doesn't help, does it happen in borderless mode also?

This game does take longer to start up than our other games. How long are you seeing?

Can you log into our launcher before starting the game from it okay? Have you always had this problem or it used to be okay up to some point?

Crashes that happen after some hours' play (in any game on any OS) are usually overheating, but I can't see why that would only happen on save operations. You could check the CPU and GPU temps after say 1 hour of play though.

Running ck3.exe does bypass the launcher completely. Your problem is nothing to do with the launcher.

Is the Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder still empty?

I'm very sorry it's been like this for you, but I don't think there's anything we in tech support can do about this - on consoles there's basically nothing to tweak, and no logs to look into.

Can they move the machine to some different network , to test this there?

So far we have 0 clues as to what is wrong on this machine to affect our game this way. Clearly something changed between when it last worked and first had this problem, but I cannot see what.

What if you make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that, any different?

I agree that is strange; after all the game itself has not changed in that time either!

Perhaps it was a Win11 update then?

In what way? It made no difference, or not enough?

Can you revert the AMD driver to the version you had before this first happened?

Has this always happened ever since you've had the game? or it was okay up to some point?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

This is done in the launcher, not the game, as I mentioned. Please try that.

This problem is nothing to do with .NET as the game does not use it (only the launcher does).

I'm afraid your old Intel(R) HD Graphics is unsupported hardware for this game, and is very likely the source of your problem.

Your driver for it dates from 2016, even though you are on Win11. Please check with ZOTAC for an updated Win11 driver for it, failing that Intel themselves https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

I hope that does it for you!
