Often people feel like these kinds of things are just ignored by the studio, so just having a comment like this already goes a long way! Thanks for taking the time to reply to such an old thread (in reddit terms that is)

Sure thing! Yeah, each dev has a mental list of the things they'd want to be updated or added to the game. Often that stuff gets discussed as a group, triaged, and backlogged for future analysis. We (as individual devs) don't comment publicly on things like this as a rule because we want to be careful about setting proper expectations. Very often, the things players might ask for on reddit or the official forums are things we've wanted or talked about for a long time but that haven't aligned with our goals, directives, or plans for various reasons. Thanks for the chat and for the kind words. Means a lot.

What resolution display are you connected to? 1080p? 1440p? 4k?

Gonna try it this weekend. Thanks for the heads up.

I've been using SamCW's soulslike layout for about 2 years, with minor edits to it. I like it because it keeps my fingers on the shoulder buttons and triggers for combat so I can use my right thumb to move the camera around in action cam mode. But it relies on the extra buttons and touch pads as well for shifting on the skill bar and accessing menus so it wouldn't work docked (unless Valve were to come out with a separate Steam Deck controller, which would be rad).

Good luck finding one you like.

Yeah that sounds about right. Honestly just having a way to read the books later fixes most issues, but it'd be best to have a way to properly store them too cause otherwise it can get out of hand with storing all the different books in your inventory (I still got a character with a few dozen books in its inventory)

I'm glad to see you're reading the feedback on this at least, it's been a thing I've seen talked about a lot over the years

Thanks for confirming. Yeah, it's actually been something we've kicked around internally for years. No promises, of course. I can't say either way if this is something that we'd ever do. But it's good to know that folks might be interested in an update that could make the quality of life better should we have the opportunity. Understanding pain points and collecting data is always the first step.

I'm going to paraphrase the OP to make sure I'm understanding the feedback:

* The existence and quality of in-game books and lore pages is fine
* The implementation of finding books and pages in the middle of a combat zone or scattered in and between open world events creates unneeded time pressure which prevents someone from actually reading it during gameplay
* OP is suggesting/recommending a way to "unlock" or "bank" books and pages for reading later

Is this an accurate assessment of the feedback? Or am I missing something?

Omg it makes me feel like I've teleported through time. Like, good god it's like finding a newgrounds video on youtube, I feel it in the gut.

I did the same thing with Supernatural and I feel like I'm watching an entirely different show, not because of plot changes but because I have a WAAAAAY different mindset going into it than I did watching it years ago.

Amazing how life gives you the wisdom to see the same thing differently over time.

😭 I felt this in my soul

My first thought was, "Oh, this is one of the more recent jokes," not realizing that time has only accelerated, and this was from the 20th century.

Here's a weird gen x take: while, yes, the earlier seasons were indeed the golden age of the Simpsons, the recent seasons have been pretty great IMO. I stopped watching around season 15 and have only now gone back and started catching up on everything since and have found some gems that were made in the past 20 years. Hell, even the past few seasons have had some fantastic episodes.

What might be new on Game Pass.

Game Pass is great for trying out different things on a budget.

Atleast at the moment I'm playing quite a bit of fallout new vegas. I usually play some sort of single player rpg when I'm not playing GW2. A while ago I made my way through the witcher games which was really fun, I've also played a lot of warframe which is probably my second most played game behind GW2.

I'm doing exactly this right now. LOL

I bought New Vegas ages ago but never finished it. Between the Amazon show hype and wanting something to play on my Steam Deck in between GW2 sessions it's been a lot of fun.

SotO's premise and background lore is fantastic, and as much as some people hate SotO's story, I will die on this hill, and feel forever sad it got rushed and butchered so bad :'I.

I'm definitely curious to see what folks think once the next expac is announced and they can see what threads will continue, etc.

Last week I was helping my bf with a story instance fight getting the timed achievement and I could hear every voice line but he could only hear his commander's lines, none of the npcs.

It's situational and weird.

You may want to try moving the sound quality slider in the audio options tab all the way to the right (highest quality). Folks have reported in the past that having it on the left (fastest) can cause some things to drop or lose post-processing effects.
