Can you provide your GPU model, driver version, OS version and a screenshot of your ingame graphics settings window so we can look into this please

What phone? This is likely to be due to lack of RAM

Rs3 mobile on the note 9.

What keyboard app do you use, and is there anything unusual or non-default about how you have it configured?

It's a full physically based rendering system, similar to other modern engines

In layman's terms it gives more real looking lighting and reflections on metallic and/or rough surfaces (previously all surfaces were treated similarly), and enables realistic refraction when looking through transparent objects like glass (previously water only)

Would suggest an upgrade to Windows 10, looks like the system scaling is not behaving correctly, or perhaps you've disabled it explicitly on rs2client.exe. I don't have much first hand experience of high DPI on Windows 7, but that does not look like how it should out of the box.

You could also try re-enabling Aero, running in basic theme (no compositing) on high DPI is not ideal

I've submitted multiple bug reports, what they've told me is to check my settings and delete cache. Like really?

Also I've been suffering from CVDisplaylink crashes and the awful optimization of mac client. Running NXT in bootcamp results in +70fps easily with high graphics settings. In MacOS I'll barely hit 60 with medium settings and suffer from stuttering.

If you can pastebin the wall of text from the crash report dialog I can look into the exact cause of your crashes

As to the performance, especially stuttering, blame Apple for deprecating OpenGL. Stuff that works perfectly on every other platform, including iOS(!), causes driver stalls on macOS. It's not a matter of us ignoring the issue, it's that we literally cannot do anything about it. Even the upcoming multi-threaded rendering, which offers a significant performance boost across the board, we had to disable on macOS because of driver stalls that are outside of our control

Is there somewhere or something I could watch in order to be aware of when this happens? Edit: It's apparently out!

More specifically, will there be a client version update? Would the updated client happen to be 2.2.7, or will it keep the 2.2.6 version number on the download URL?

Would the updated client happen to be 2.2.7

Yes it will be 2.2.7 in the repo

This works but just for a short time. I've done this before and It came back. But for now atealst I know when It starts to load slow I should just delete ShaderManager.jcache.

I usually switch my setting from Ultra to low because when I play other games at the same time It laggs.

And what do you mean with compatibility mode?

Thank you otherwise, You answer helped me.

Go to the laucher settings (press cogwheel button just as you start RS), you will find compatibility mode there

Why does it pre-load stuff everytime you open client, log to lobby, enter game world? Like, isn't doing it once enough?!

Each time a shader is loaded it causes a noticeable stutter, which is avoided by preloading them up front. They sadly cannot be stored between sessions

Well it’s happening even with a fresh install of windows with the only thing downloaded is graphics driver and RuneScape. I had it load up in normal once and then next time I opened it bam couldn’t get past black screen of death when logging in. Compatibility mode loads up but is laggy like no other; I’ll do another clean install of windows and see if it happens again.

What model of laptop is it out of interest?

It has an i7 and a 1070 in it and should be more than enough to run Runescape in normal mode. What caching options are you talking about in driver settings?

Definitely not related, with problems on hardware like that I would look into conflicts with 3rd party software, such as overlays, audio enhancements, antivirus, recording/streaming, etc.

To reset the shader cache, delete C:\ProgramData\Jagex\RuneScape\ShaderManager.jcache

To avoid it filling up again, don't excessively adjust graphics settings

To speed up shader preloading, don't use compatibility mode and enable any shader caching option in your graphics driver settings

for the first time

That must be a different issue with the same symptoms - the issue I'm referring to happens with a >90% repro rate - it's difficult to get RS to start at all

That's strange I've not seen it happen on single GPU systems

May be a stupid question but are your monitors definitely plugged into the Nvidia card and not to any motherboard video ports?

Comment

This issue is caused by using two separate GPUs with one monitor plugged into each, not just two monitors. I would suggest avoiding this if at all possible, as performance will be impacted in pretty much everything, especially at higher resolutions

When I last investigated it appeared to be a driver issue with no clear fix

2gb ram isn't really enough on a phone with system app bloatware, crashes on that device are likely due to insufficient ram

The notch size is requested from the OS and the UI dynamically updated to match. Blame lies with Google and/or Samsung here - Google's notch API doesn't really handle cutouts, and Samsung are being overly safe by reporting their cutout as a full notch
