Ha, so it's a somewhat boring story admittedly. I had the online handle VThornheart since I was a kid, and in college someone said "VT Hornheart? Like you're a horny guy from Vermont?" And I was like "uh, nope and I don't think I want anyone thinking it is." And thus I picked a different one. Eventually I realized that it didn't really matter what people thought of my screenname so I changed it back - and thus the nickname of my account is roughly based on the point in my life at which I created that account.

Every other triumph you can't attain anymore auto hides once it's no longer attainable but this one is sticking around and causing my inner completionist to twitch uncontrollably. Is this something that can be looked into, please? Thanks! ♥

Hmm, interesting! Yes, I'll look into that!

Edgar and Thornheart are great at what they do, API... but the API is reporting the total value in the database correctly, the API is working fine.

What happened is Bungie changed the point value on the "IO Adventures" triumph from being worth 0 to being worth 50 points, after some people already claimed it when it was worth 0 points.

That has nothing to do with the API... so Edgar and Thornheart probably aren't gonna be the ones to fix it.

This is what happens when you give the players their first downtime since Forsaken launched, they start finding more bugs! There's a significant portion of the playerbase who can never get to max triumph score due to this bug.

(secret fact - we're actually the same person! It is a very long and probably boring story as to why I ended up with two screen names!)

Oh yeah, I commented over on Github about it - I sent what you all collected over for folks on the game side to assess further. Unfortunately it's something upstream from the API so there's nothing we can do from an API perspective to correct it, but we'll see what shakes out.

/u/EdgarVerona - is this anything on your radar? Some people have a bugged Triumph somewhere where API returns 50 points less than what it shows in game if you manually add up the points. Can a Triumph “recalc” be done to true-up everyone’s points?

See this related post from today also - https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/cywrdi/50pt_triumph_bug_check_d2checklist_tool/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

Oh, yes, I just saw a Github Issue that was created on the subject: but I haven't had time yet to take a closer look! I'll be filing a bug on it to investigate further when we have the time to dig in on it. Unfortunately, from the summary of the issue it sounds like it's likely going to be something that will have to be addressed game side rather than in the API (if there is something that can be fixed/if it isn't intended behavior for some reason)

Not familiar with the back end system, don't want to leave anything out that may be interconnected. I'm sure you guys will figure it out, just glad it wasn't site related and more cache. Otherwise people could be potentially locked out of those wayfarer medallions if they earned them during this window.

Totally, I dig it and appreciate the extra info you provided!

Okay, I think I've found out what's happening. The profile and rewards pages share some logic that can bypass the fact that accounts are overridden in cross save. I'm working on some changes right now, unsure when a fix will go out but we did find the reason for this mismatch for those of you encountering it!

Hmm, definitely interesting. Cool, I'm glad you saw the character selection choice screen at least, I had to make sure that part wasn't breaking!

I'll be taking a peek, but either way I'm glad it worked out.

I suspect it has something to do with authenticating multiple profiles for cross-save activation. (had to sign in with battle.net, xbox, psn and steam) but it was just not giving me the option to swap between which characters displayed or swap profiles.

I think I'm good, but maybe an item to include on cross-save FAQ?

One more thing I need to check up on for this too so that I'm not assuming too much - so when you were going through the process, the flow should have given you the following steps:

1) Having you authenticate with each
2) Having you choose a single set of characters (not individual characters *within* a set, but rather a whole set in its entirety)
3) Showing you your chosen set of characters, plus the resulting end state for the others
4) The final confirmation that it happened

I wanted to make sure #2 actually happened for you, so I'm not mistaken on what occurred when I go to check! Did you get a step where you were asked to choose and you chose the XBox characters?

I love how active your team is on reddit!

Sweet, I'm glad it worked out! But I'm still going to investigate just in case... the fact that you saw your old, overridden PC characters at all after you initiated cross save gives me the feeling that something's not right over there, if even that it's just some temporary cache that's not being properly flushed. But just in case it's something that needs closer attention, I'm going to go take a look later today.

Note: incognito mode shows the correct profile. so I've uploaded a screenshot of what I see when logged in for reference. imgur link below

So just to double check too - that screenshot that you have for when you look at your profile page when logged in as yourself, are those your old PC characters? If you refresh the page, do you still see those?

This issue appears to be affecting bungie rewards. My profile page for me displays pc accounts (incorrect). my profile page for the public displays xbox accounts (correct). Cross save lets me play xbox account characters on multiple platforms.

bungie-rewards appears to be based on PC characters as I cannot claim any codes currently. While I personally don't need to claim any of these codes, if there are other users in the same scenario they will need to disable cross-save to get those wayfarer pins when you fix it next week. The problem there of course is that we only have 7 days from today to do so.

Tried creating a separate post to garner attention but this FAQ auto-modded me. Apologies for the direct user callout, just a pressing issue for some players.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll let some folks know and we can investigate.

Can you send me the URL for your profile page? You can PM it to me if you prefer. That'll help with our investigation. Thank you!

Keep pressing on - I am looking forward to Shadowkeep!

Thanks - and indeed, check it out when you get the chance! There's a lot in there, so it can be pretty intimidating at first. But it can be fun to tinker with!

So when the Steam transfer finally happens, your display name will be your Steam display name - the one that you can change freely (for better or worse).

/u/EdgarVerona, /u/dmg04 is there any way to release the 90 day lock on cross save deactivation? I don't know how it happened but my brand new PC account (power level 100) got set as my main account during cross save. I swear I picked my xbox account. My order in which I did things was:

  • buy destiny 2 on battle.net
  • link my new battle.net to steam account
  • go into cross save to authenticate. I noticed here that my battle.net didn't recognize that I had just purchased the game. It was still saying I needed to buy.
  • I authenticated all without problem
  • I believe I had my xbox characters on the left side of the screen saying that's the account I want to use
  • I didn't see any characters on the cross save list so I fired up the battle.net account and created a new character
  • refreshed the page and it just showed my new power level 100 character
  • double che...

Unfortunately, I can't personally help with that lockout - but if you bring this information over to the Bungie Help forums, that's the best spot to send this info to!

For example, I sign up for cross save, add my PSN, my XBL, and my Bnet accounts. I choose my PSN characters as those I want to use for cross save.

Can I then replace that original PSN (from which the characters originated) with a PSN and have access to those original PSN characters?

(Basically, I messed up by PSN name change and would love to move my characters to a different PSN.)

Unfortunately we don't have any way to support that scenario!

Thank you very much for passing this on.

I switched to PC when Destiny 2 launched and I was disappointed that there was no way to link Destiny 1 to Destiny 2 if you were switching platforms. I accomplished a lot in the first game and I would very much like to have my legacy progress through Destiny 2 without having to start over. The cross save is great! I just have done a lot on PC now!

The emblems and triumphs would be nice to have. The veteran dialogue, if it's just a checkbox somewhere in audio options or if I can link a Destiny 1 account again on bungie that allows the dialogue switch would be great.

Does the Destiny 1 progress, triumphs, grimoire scores even exist on the bungie website anymore? Like if Destiny 3 were to come out, would all of the Destiny 2 information be wiped like Destiny 1?

So Destiny 1 progress etc is still available through the API, but we don't have anywhere on the site for it anymore unfortunately. We have a pretty limited amount of resources and people on the Bungie.net team, so we had to make hard choices on what we could maintain going forward and what we couldn't.

The UI in particular is hard to maintain, as we'd have to keep pulling it forward through site redesigns and such. But we found that we were able to keep the info in the API: so while you can't see this info through the site itself, we release it in data format so you can see it on sites like Destiny Tracker and other places who show legacy info (or even grab it yourself if you wanted to make something fun out of your old character! If you play D1, it'll still update too, and you can still do things like transfer items etc... with the old D1 API!)

As far as the future of Destiny 2 or theoretical future Destiny games, I am unfortunately unable to speculate on that!
