With all of the disappointment in gaming lately (looking at you blizzard) I'm not looking to pay for a demo, especially not pay for a demo of a F2P game. This is going to scare off people who are on the fence about trying a game from a new studio at a time when the studio should be capitalizing on new release hype. If the game is F2P then early access should be F2P. This has similar vibes to Diablo 4 launch bundling early access into the collectors edition or whatever they called it.

Edit: When I posted this an hour before Gerald's response and apparently before the "free" early access started, the only option on steam was buy Stormgate and "Early access pack" combo for $25. Going back now i see a free play option. When i hear early access starts on the 13th and i go to to steam the morning of the 13th and all i see is an option to page $25 for early access what am I supposed to ...

Gentle reminder that this is incorrect. We release to early access in about 15 minutes and you don't need to pay to play.

Many of us will be watching the SC2 tournament ourselves (we will always <3 SC2), but you can also tune in to watch a special Stormgate Invitational exhibition taking place at the EWC festival tomorrow at 10am PT, 1pm ET, to celebrate our launch.

PartinG, MaNa, MacSed, and TheoRy will be duking it out in a double-elimination tournament.

It'll be hosted by Kaelaris and cast by Tastosis, ZombieGrub, and RotterdaM.

You can watch it on https://twitch.tv/PlayStormgate if you want to tune in.

You can get in TODAY for free by watching Twitch streamers, too. You can get an access code as a Twitch Drop.

My main complaint at the moment is the very bad communication on dev side: I am pretty happy that they finally did a blog post about the complaints and that should have happened far earlier. The game itself is very good and unique yet familiar enough gameplaywise. The campaign is ok in my opinion. I said it already but neither Warcraft nor StarCraft have been a revelation in regards to the story. The presentation of course was top notch but that we cannot expect from a smaller studio. Personally I would also say that the Epilogue of StarCraft 2 was a complete shit show. Just tell us more, lovely Devs, and what you are about to do. Reading that everything is changing doesn't mean shit. What is your vision of the game? Where is the campaign heading? What's to expect for the art style? Gameplay?

Did you read our recent blog about the Future of our Campaign?

Hey DrBurn-, thanks so much for sharing your perspective. Your support means a lot to our team. I will definitely pass on that you want a random co-op hero option! Hope we get matched up together in-game!

According to our community members, Stormgate apparently plays very well on Macs using NVIDIA's GeForce Now, but I haven't tried it, personally.

You can play the game for free and that's totally OK!

If you like the free campaign content and want to purchase more to support development, you can. It's totally up to you, and we understand players may want to wait until 1.0. before making that decision.

We released a blog recently detailing our vision for the future of Campaign as it continues developing during Early Access. You can read it here: ...

Since in the statement it sounded like that the issue was on the buyer’s side, that the buyer wasn’t careful enough, we decided to investigate this a little bit. Until friday, in the official Kickstarter FAQ the statement was that “all of the year zero heroes were included in the Founder’s Pack”.

this is interesting, I hadn't noticed that

thanks for translating

Yeah, no one noticed on our side either! The reviewer was correct when he said "It is possible that Frost Giant simply made an error in the FAQ." As soon as we learned of the error, we asked Kickstarter to correct it and to clearly label the entry as having been updated.

These sound like good steps. However I think it’s best to wait and see these changes before purchasing. Especially since the mission cost is damn high.

Our game is free to play—no need to wait to play once we release on August 13! Waiting on campaign sounds like a good idea if you want to experience it in its final form.

Feedback is good and it's okay to be disappointed with the current state but there are kinder more productive ways to communicate.

Wish that instead of so many being antagonistic and trying to tear down the game they could show positive encouragement, trying to build up a great game as a community.

We definitely notice all of you who are supporting us. Thank you for being there for our team. :D

Oh. And ps. If I could make one request. My greatest regret from my wonderful 10 years with SC2 is not being able to pay and arm and a leg for those Art Deco skins that Minsk got for his Coop units so I could roll in style on the ladder. When the time comes, I’m praying the art team will make an Art Deco skin set for Vanguard. I’ll make it rain for those!!

Will also share the request for Art Deco skins with the team. Keep the suggestions and feedback coming!

I’m glad you liked the preview for the “war-torn Resistance” Vanguard skins! I’ll check in on our plans around them and will share an update once I hear more.

Thanks so much for your support, fellow busy dad! It means a lot to our team.

The Early Access pack for $25 includes optional in-game content (which you can also purchase in the future if you want to fully unlock a co-op Hero and more campaign missions.) We’re also adding a bonus paid Hero to everyone who buys an Ultimate pack.

You can always wait for after you try out the game for free before deciding whether you want to support the dev team, but doing so now would get you into the game today.

We still have a lot of work ahead, but we’re excited about where we’re going. Hope you have fun in the game!

In the eventual “Esports Hall of Fame,” Lucifron and VortiX should absolutely be enshrined for being top competitors in so many different games.

Our game, Stormgate, is a spiritual successor to the Blizzard-style RTS.

Our free Early Access release is this coming Tuesday, August 13. (You can buy an Early Access pack to get in now, but I would only recommend that if you are happy with playing games that are still in active development.)

Our dev team includes many team members who worked on StarCraft II, including our chief architect who was responsible for that game's pathfinding and game feel. Our team built tech (we call it SnowPlay) that layers onto Unreal Engine 5 that makes it the most powerful and responsive RTS engine to date. For example,we're 64-tick, meaning the client responds to player inputs 64 times per second--most RTS games are 8-tick, and SC2 was 22-tick, which is why it still feels so great to play. That tech also means we can do stuff like include rollback netcode for smooth online play, something you typically only see in fighting games.

We also have global matchmaking and a...
