I was just told that these outlines appeared due to us turning on outlines on mobile for player models while in game modes other then solo. This is just an effect of those outlines. This was in the patch notes under:

  • Fixed missing outline effect for squad members.

Locker and shop are a bit different since the shop is always rotating and locker items you own. I dont have an actually technical answer but if I can find out an exact reason that I can relay to you and others I will.

Description of Issue: Switching audio output on computer from speakers to headphones results in audio only coming out of speakers. It only affects Fortnite while everything else (i.e. YouTube, Spotify, Discord, etc.) comes out of my chosen audio output source. It started 2 patches ago and the only fix is to close the client and restart the game with the output you want.

Secondary bug: Every time I change to a different game mode it auto-switches to Fill even when I have everything set to No-Fill. This bug started at the start of the season.

Hey there,

We wanted to drop in and give a status update on stability issues we’ve been seeing on mobile. Since the launch of Season 8, we’ve noticed a number of quality-of-life issues that we should have communicated better and earlier.

Our previous efforts towards mobile stability tended to focus on top crashes and issues found after each release across both iOS and Android. Focusing on platform-wide issues, however, meant we missed what we now discovered to be a frequently occurring GPU hang specific to iPhone 8. We’ve corrected this hole in our process and will have better oversight on individual devices moving forward. For those of you experiencing the GPU hang, we’ve been able to reproduce the issue and are actively working towards a fix.

Update: We’ve identified that voice chat on iOS was causing an increase in stability issues. We’re keeping voice chat disabled on iOS while we continue to work towards a solution.

Update 2: We’ve re-enabled voice chat for iOS, we'll continue to monitor stability.

Update 3: After enabling voice chat on iOS we’re seeing an increase in stability issues. Due to these issues we’ve decided to temporarily disable voice chat on iOS and Android devices while we continue to investigate.

Dropping in with some clarification - if you are on mobile with a controller you will be matched into controller lobbies. If you are on mobile using touch you will be paired with Switch players.

We're aware of an issue where players using gamepads cannot access Event Details or Leaderboards. We're still tracking all data for the Gauntlet Event Test and have a fix planned for this issue in the v8.10 update.
