We’ve been tracking some top community concerns and we want to update you on our ongoing dev efforts.

POI Rendering

Since Season 8 launch we’ve seen the feedback from players reporting points of interest rendering incorrectly when they first load in. Our team has been looking into the cause of these issues and we’ve implemented a fix in the v8.30 patch. If you are still experiencing this issue after v8.30 let us know by submitting feedback.

VOIP

We’ve received feedback regarding the use of certain headsets on the Switch when using voice chat. Switch is capable of supporting a variety of headsets from wired USB to wireless and while we support most manufacturer headsets we are looking into testing a variety of different headsets to increase our current supported set.

The iPad Mini 5 is a new product that our team is still testing. It was our first patch supporting it, and we wanted to get live data to make sure it's performing as expected before turning it on officially. We've collected the required data and will be turning 60FPS on this device in v8.40 as long we see no issues in the data. We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused.

When players report issues here on reddit we report it over to our QA team who attempts to reproduce the issue. Being that this was near 2 weeks ago, im not sure what I was doing but I do jump into normal live games to help out our QA team when I can especially if its mobile-related.

I used to play PC well before I worked for Epic, then I joined on the mobile team. I still played PC while at home and mobile at work but when I transitioned to the Fortnite Community Team to be the mobile coordinator I started playing mobile much more often to the point where I might be better on mobile then I am PC at this time ;)

I really do not remember exactly what happened but there is a good chance I ran into an eliminated players trap? Playing on mobile the tendency is to forget to look up sometimes 🙃I also could have been just running in to test something and eliminated myself after doing what I needed to do.

No Epic employee has the ability to remove a post. The mods are the only ones who can that. If the mods felt the need to remove a post it must have broken one of the r/Fornitemobile rules in some way.

If you feel the need to directly contact me my DMs are open on Reddit, though you may not get a response right away, it is something I will still see.

Hey Everyone,

We have received reports about players being disconnected from match mid game. The error you will see is normally " Client failed to register with server" or " We hit a roadblock". If you are having this issue please report the issue in game under the feedback button and let us know in the following format:

  • In game player name to find your report ( feel free to DM if you do not want to share your IGN, I have open DMs on Reddit)
  • Device type
  • OS Device is on
  • Internet Service Provider

Thank you for your assistance while we investigate this issue.

We're looking into these disconnection errors our players are getting. Can I ask if you play on LTE versus your WiFi if this also happens?

Are you able to log in any other way if you use this workaround? login to epicgames.com using your PlayStation account. That will force you to upgrade your account. You will then have to use email and password as a login option

We’re aware that the client update resolving login & stability issues has not yet reached the App Store for iOS devices.

We’re working with Apple on this and will provide a status update once the patch is available.

Quick follow up though, are you guys requesting the entitlement to keep using the iOS 11 style of memory accounting before releasing the new SDK in the meantime or just plan on keeping the previous one for an indeterminate amount of time ? Some kind of time frame (doesn’t have to be a specific date) would be cool too if you can provide one.

I do not have a time frame but what I can say is that testing is ongoing with Xcode 10 and the new SDK. Once we have fully tested and implemented the required changes from Apple we will be submitting with the new SDK.

I do not have the technical details at the moment but if I do get the information I will be sure to share.

We are still aware that this issue is not fully resolved. We have implemented a few fixes in our previous patches but we are still working on dragging and dropping items while sprinting.

Work Around The workaround is to login to epicgames.com using your Xbox live or switch account. That will force you to upgrade your account. You will then have to use email and password as a login option
