We’re aware of this issue. It’s not prioritized, but it’s been finally reproduced internally and we’re aware of it. It’s been quite difficult to do so reliably, as it’s proven to be quite an elusive bug.

Thralls no longer use the hunger system, they decay instead. This timer is separate to building decay but the system is similar. By disabling it, thralls do not disappear when their owner does not log in for a certain period of time.
In your case there seems to be some sort of malfunction so we will send note to our QA about it and see if they can replicate this issue on their end.

It is possible your character died because of temperature (if you logged out in a very warm or cold area), wild animals or another player. To keep this issue at minimum, many players choose to leave all their possessions locked in a chest before going to “bed”.

Unfortunately, we put those settings that way on official servers for performance reasons, as purges can be quite taxing if they’re frequent and easy to spawn. Private servers can fiddle with that setting and make it easier/harder to achieve, though.
