Our team is aware of this issue and has patched it in our current Testlive branch of the game, which will come to consoles at a later date.

By fresh uninstall we mean deleting the game and any saved folder it might leave behind after uninstalling.
Once you reinstall it, could you try as the error suggests and check the integrity of your game files as well? (by right clicking the game in your Steam library > Properties > Local Files) We would also suggest running a cleaning program such as CCleaner Light to clean up any registry issues that could remain in your system that could affect your game files.

In that case, please also make sure to get in contact with the admin or admins of that server to see if there is any current known issues with it.
That being the case, it seems it could be a port-forwarding issue. Please make sure to open for both you and your partner the following ports in your router:
UDP 27000 to 27030, UDP 3478, 4379 and 4380
How to do so depends on the brand and model of your router. Here’s a general guide on how to do so but please bear in mind that it can vary wildly depending on the model:

Could you try doing a fresh reinstall of the game files? We’ve had some reports of this issue in the past and most of the time it was caused by some game file acting up. If that doesn’t help, could you specify what error message you get so we can look into it in more detail?
