November 12

Here are some adjustments that were implemented into the Season of Mastery Beta over the last couple of weeks, that deserve to be noted.

  • The cost to train riding skills and the cost to purchase level 40 mounts have been reduced.
  • The Gordok Tribute chest in Dire Maul can no longer be looted by players that are not on King Gordok’s tap list when he’s defeated.
  • The healing provided from the Diamond Flask trinket on-use effect no longer benefits from bonus +healing or spellpower.

Yes, all Americas and Oceanic Season of Mastery realms are in the same Battleground pool.

Hello, no. It’s not BC at all. It’s World of Warcraft Classic.

Hello!

First thing you want to double-check is that you’re logging into World of Warcraft Classic, not Burning Crusade Classic.

On your launcher playscreen, it’s a dropdown right above the PLAY button labeled GAME VERSION & ACCOUNT. If that says Burning Crusade Classic, click on it and change it to World of Warcraft Classic.

In the new content, Soulbinds will continue to work as before.

Just wanted to paint this blue and add a thought. It looks like we mentioned Soulbinds in the video.

We don’t have plans to update Soulbinds in Eternity’s End.

Narratively, the Eternity’s End raid tells two stories, one after the other. Our current plan for the release of the raid looks like this:

  • During the first week of the release of Eternity’s End, the raid will not be open.
  • Beginning with the second week, the raid will open for Normal and Heroic difficulties, and the first eight bosses will be available in those difficulties.
    • It will not be possible to fight the final bosses on any difficulty during week two.
    • This is intended to provide a moment to tell the story in a way that accounts for the passage of time between the events of the eighth encounter and the subsequent encounters.
  • Beginning with the weekly reset of week three, all bosses will be available on Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties.
    • This will also be the opening of the first wing of the raid on Raid Finder difficulty.

In version 1.14 of WoW Classic, we intentionally implemented the automatic-dismount when casting a spell or interacting with an object, as a quality of life improvement.

For the time being, if you’d like to disable this, it is possible to do so via CVar commands.

The commands look like this –

/script C_CVar.SetCVar(“autoStand”, 0);
/script C_CVar.SetCVar(“autoDismount”, 0);
/script C_CVar.SetCVar(“autoUnshift”, 0);

– where 0 disables the function, and a value of 1 would enable it.

We’re looking into making this an interface toggle setting in a future version of WoW Classic.

No, we aren’t planning for same-faction BGs in Season of Mastery.

We also aren’t looking at restrictions on premades. Players who are serious about ranking will do so in premades, just like original World of Warcraft.

Confirmed – spell batching in Season of Mastery will be removed, same as in Classic Era and Burning Crusade Classic.

In the next couple of weeks, we intend to enable free character transfers for many Burning Crusade Classic realms. We’re planning to offer free transfers from all of the lowest-population BCC realms to any high-population realm of the same ruleset and region.

We will update this post to let you know all the details when we have the free character transfers underway.

Thank you!

Upon further review, we’ve decided to give this at least a week and discuss it some more. We will not be implementing the changes above with maintenance.

We’ll continue to look for your feedback here and update you with our revised plan, if any, in the next couple of days.

With weekly maintenance in each region, we’re applying some hotfixes to raid encounters as a step toward their final tuning.

Serpentshrine Caverns

  • Morogrim Tidewalker – Tidewalker Lurkers’ health has been reduced to their post-nerf values.
  • Lady Vashj – Persuasion no longer provides crowd control immunity.

Tempest Keep

  • Kael’thas Sunstrider – The encounter is now set to its post-nerf configuration.

Again, these adjustments will be live following maintenance tomorrow, November 9.

On Thursday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m. PST, we’re opening Season of Mastery realms for name reservation. This will give players several days to create their main character and coordinate with others before the Season of Mastery begins on November 16.

To prepare for name reservation, select WoW Classic in your Battle.net Launcher, and then ‘World of Warcraft Classic’ in the Game Version & Account list. Season of Mastery realms will appear in-game on a new ‘Seasonal’ tab in the WoW Classic realm selector.

During name reservation, you will be able to create a maximum of one character per WoW account. If you change your mind about anything after you’ve created your character, you can delete that character and create a new one on any available realm in your region. In this region, the initial realms for name reservation will be:

Location Realm Name Realm Type
U.S. East Barman Shank...

To be clear, the Desmotaeron Animaflow is available to any of your characters as long as one of your characters has the Sanctum of Domination achievement.

If for some reason it’s still unavailable, you may need to log in on the character with the achievement at least once.

Hello again!

Now that we’re wrapping up our Beta testing phase, we want to follow up on our design intentions, clarify some topics that have come up, and answer questions we’ve seen from Beta testers.

Content Adjustments

One notable aspect of our content phases is the decision to make the Dungeon Set 2 (AKA “tier 0.5”) questlines available at launch. We also adjusted the availability of many dungeon and reputation items, making them become available earlier than they did in original World of Warcraft.

Most of the changes and additions made to boss loot tables, reputation vendors, and other sources of gear were made later in original WoW to fill an obvious gap in viable late-game pre-raid gear or resistance gear. It makes sense with the accelerated content release cadence in Season of Mastery to move these changes up to Phase 1. This will provide more variety and value in the items available as players gear up for late-game content. This a...

We’ve developed some adjustments to a few items that we want to see more available early in Season of Mastery (than they were in WoW Classic).

We’re increasing the availability of Plaguebloom, adding a small chance for Black Lotus to drop from high level Herbalism nodes, and increasing the availability of Elemental Fire, Elemental Earth, and Elemental Water.

These adjustments are not yet testable on the Season of Mastery Beta, but they will be deployed there at some point over the next few days.

We’ll let you know when this slate of adjustments is in place in the Beta.
