Greetings Captains,

Welcome to the fifth week of the New Player Captain's Log! For those of you who aren't sure what this is or what it might do, feel free to check out the introductory post here.

Without further ado, let’s proceed with Week 5!

Accomplishments
Here’s a list of personal milestones that I hit during the week:

1. Participated in Raptor and achieved a 5 star completion
2. Unlocked the North Carolina after originally going from Colorado to Kansas
3. Began playing more regularly in Tier VIII (still rolling with BBs)

Focus Points of the Week
After talking to a number of you in last week’s thread, I made a few changes in focus that I think were beneficial to my learning experience. Here’s a few things I accomplished:

1. Focused on having an escape plan in any situation
2. In situations where I am being targeted by multiple ships, I ha...

The "Outstanding Navigator" bundle that you can bid on includes him as a 14 point commander along with 20 Early Morning camouflages. Other than that, I don't believe there's anything special to note.

Just looked into this and it does not appear that Pyotr Gradov has a unique voiceover.

Bless you for getting the reference, lol.

I have been saying this more lately, so this is reassuring!

See, I have a general grasp of this concept but I have trouble consolidating these two points into cohesive play. Either I am focusing too much on the "fast damage" portion and thus taking on more risk than I should, or I am playing the "peekaboo" approach as described above but not contributing nearly as much as I'd like to. I just need to blend these Koncepts (see what I did there?) better.

Totally understand your hesitation with doing voice calls on Discord based on this. Just wanted to add (in case you weren't familiar) that Discord functions like a live forum with the option to use voice if you want to. I'd say a majority of people who use our Discord use it as a place to have game discussions, just like the forum but in real time. So if your main hesitation with joining Discord was using voice, you're more than welcome to still join and just do text-based discussions.

Greetings Captains,

Welcome to the fourth week of the New Player Captain's Log! For those of you who aren't sure what this is or what it might do, feel free to check out the introductory post here.

Without further ado, let’s proceed with Week 4!

Accomplishments
Here’s a list of personal milestones that I hit during the week:
1. Participated in the Operation: Narai and achieved a 5 star completion
2. Unlocked both US and German Cruisers up to Tier VI
3. Began playing more regularly in Tier VII (namely BBs)

Focus Points of the Week
After talking to a number of you in last week’s thread, I made a few changes in focus that I think were beneficial to my learning experience. Here’s a few things I accomplished:
1. Still stayed primarily in the middle tiers
2. Began moving away from Cruisers as a whole (just a little out of my skill range right now)
3. Studied up on Nar...

Not my best showing, but I enjoyed our slugfest near the end there!

Too true. I played Killer Whale a couple more times before Wednesday (spoiler for next week, I suppose) and I survived the other times with some more strategic positioning in the final waves. Also was much more effective in general!

I'm typically a visual learner, so I think this tip will do me WONDERS. I know it won't apply to every situation, but it still gives me a general concept of when to plan an "exit strategy" of sorts. Thank you for this!

I also learn really well with numbers, so this is a great tip as well. Going forward, I want to keep my detection in mind with whatever ship I am playing so I have a rough target number for when I should be slowing/turning.

This is a great tip in general. I feel like a good rule of thumb for me has been to try to tie myself to another ship that is attempting to do what I am doing. Am I going towards cap? Let me find a buddy DD. Need to keep my distance? Let me find a buddy BB.
The overextending part is where I REALLY struggle though. I gotta find that sweet spot that still makes me useful while staying somewhat protected.

Greetings Captains,

Welcome to the third week of the New Player Captain's Log! For those of you who aren't sure what this is or what it might do, feel free to check out the introductory post here.

Without further ado, let’s proceed with Week 3!

Accomplishments
Here’s a list of personal milestones that I hit during the week:

1. Obtained my first Collector’s patch
2. Participated in the Killer Whale operation solo
3. Played the German Cruiser Line from nothing to Tier V

Focus Points of the Week
After talking to a number of you in last week’s thread, I made a few changes in focus that I think were beneficial to my learning experience. Here’s a few things I accomplished:
1. Branched out from Tier IV to V and VI, but mainly stayed there as I feel that is where my skill level is best suited.
2. Explored other Cruiser lines, namely the German line.
3. While ...

Ahh yes, my apologies for misunderstanding. Nothing to report yet regarding the mission chain that you can unlock with the tokens.

You can definitely complete the transaction through the web page you linked. I don't believe there are plans to have it unlockable in the Armory but I will be sure to update this post if I hear otherwise.

This is a lesson that @Maredracohas reminded me of a few times. When learning, sometimes it's better to stay alive in exchange for less damage/kills. Shooting boats is easy enough to grasp, but staying alive is a skill all in its own.

Trades is something that @Ahskancehas been trying to reinforce with me as well. I think I was trying to think too logically/statistically about trades when I should just be thinking more practically and strategically. "Does it make sense for me to take this on?"

I'm glad you brought this up, because I was starting to feel a bit discouraged with my cruiser play. When this happens, I like to hop back into my comfy BBs and get my confidence back up slightly, lol.

Great question! The only reward for that mission chain would be the camo.

Post

Howdy Captains,
In yesterday's Community Stream, we saw some questions/confusion on how to earn Fusō’s Samurai Skin, aka the Japanese Castle permanent camouflage. Hopefully this post will answer any questions you might have!
First and foremost, you can find more information about the event here: The Shogun's Trials

Essentially, throughout Update 0.11.0 (starting on February 7), the Japanese Castle camo will available to purchase with Portal Tokens. There are two main ways that you will be able to obtain it:

For 400 Tokens, you will be able to purchase a mission chain. Once the mission chain is completed, you will obtain the camo.

For 750 Tokens, you will be able to purchase the camo outright.

You may be asking yourself, "Well that's all well and good, Konception. But how do I earn Portal Tokens?" Portal Tokens can be earned through completing tasks on two main platforms: Discord a...
