Bad actors discovered through packet manipulation, a bug that allowed players to duplicate in-game coin and resources – a similar attack against a different game system was also recently used in housing. Together for these exploits we have permanently banned over 1200 players, removing their items from the economy, and cancelling their trade post listings. We took decisive action against obvious bad actors with a first pass on November 2nd, permanently banning accounts of the most egregious offenders which eliminated over 80% of duped Coin and item value from the economy.

The remaining duped items have continued to hurt many player’s experience. It didn’t affect all players or worlds equally, and also more significantly impacted players who were pursuing end game goals and gear. Hello Adventurers,

There is a known issue with today’s world merge on the PTR. We have found during our internal testing that in rare cases, some players will fail to persist after logout and their progress will revert back to the start of their last play session. We already have a fix for this bug in hand, but unfortunately it was not found in time to be included within this PTR build version. Rest assured however that this problem will be fixed in-game before merges take place on our Live worlds.

If you experience any other oddity or bug post-world merge, please be sure to report it to us below so that we can continue to investigate and bug fix before world merges go live in the near future. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance!

We appreciate everyone’s interest into our communication and where we’re going with New World and we want to continue being transparent and communicative on how we plan to reach our goals and address outstanding issues.

Server Transfers

Our top priority with server transfers is to address the edge cases that have blocked players from using their free transfer token.

While the vast majority of players were able to transfer servers without issue, there is a population of players who have been unable to use their transfer token due to ‘ghost contracts’ at the trading post. These edge cases require manual investigation and intervention.

To those players who are waiting to use their tokens until these contracts are resolved, a recent service change should have unblocked those with invisible open contracts. There is an outstanding...

Thank you to everyone who has been testing the PTR and providing feedback either through the forums or in-game! We’ve already noted some bugs and feedback we want to address in our upcoming release and are keeping our eyes opened for your continued help!

We have heard asks for weapon balance notes, weapon feedback threads, as well as server merges and we are happy to provide them to you!

We have posted the Weapon Balance Notes for the PTR here as well as created Focus Feedback threads for each weapon.

We will be performing a test of our world merging technology on the Public Test Realm (PTR) on Monday, November 15th. Please keep in mind that the PTR is fully a test environment, and plans such as these merges are subject to change. If this plan does require adjustment, we will let you know ahead of time.

The following worlds will be merged:

  • “EU PTR 1” will be merged into “EU PTR EU 2”
  • “US East PTR 1” will be merged into “US East PTR 2“

Downtime will start at 2021-11-15T21:00:00Z and will last for an estimated 2 hours.

When downtime is complete, all characters and their associated data will have permanently relocated into the destination world. For instance, if you had characters on EU PTR 1 (source world) when downtime began, your characters and the data will be on PTR EU 2 (destination world) coming out of downtime. Greetings Adventurers,

The team is looking to collect feedback on the Musket Changes.

We’d like to emphasize testing towards performance and balance evaluation through both PvE and PvE combat, in addition to general skill/perk usage.

Goal with the musket build was to make it feel a little bit better to use across all levels, And increase the use and effectiveness of several abilities.

  • Increased musket base damage by 2.5%
  • Fixed an issue where the musket could not be reloaded after dodge rolling then triggering auto run
  • Fixed an issue where the reloading would not automatically resume after interruption while player is aiming.
  • Fixed an issue where musket overcharged shots were not being consumed while hipfiring while crouched.

Greetings Adventurers,

The team is looking to collect feedback on the Rapier Changes.

We’d like to emphasize testing towards performance and balance evaluation through both PvE and PvE combat, in addition to general skill/perk usage.

Goal of the Rapier changes were to fix some issues that were being encountered as well as make it easier to work around the bleed effect in the Bleed tree by reducing the cooldown of Tondo and make Riposte’s payoff a bit better due to the risk required to trigger it.

  • Fixed an issue where Tondo, Flourish, and Fleche had their cooldown begin 1 frame before the hitbox would appear. This resulted in the abilities going on cooldown if the attack was interrupted early even if it did not hit.

    • Fixed an issue where subsequent attacks would frequently miss or be hard to hit when using Flurry by improving the homing on the attack.
