So that means that if a projectile splits from sniper’s mark, and hits a hydrosphere and a tornado, and both returns, the mob can still only be hit by one of these returning projectiles, and not both?

Thank you so much for the clarification. I misunderstood the mechanic completely.

Edit: wording

Yes. There's one shared list of already-hit targets for outgoing projectiles, and a second one for the returning projectiles - at the time a projectile returns, it just swaps which it's looking at.

In the case where a projectile returns as a result of colliding with a specific target, that target is hit once but put in both lists.

Does that mean that hitting one enemy twice is a bug? There was this video by Captain Lance which showed hitting an enemy that is marked with sniper’s mark, letting it split towards a hydrosphere, and let it return to you with vengeant cascade. This allows you to hit a mob twice with the same projectile.

That's returning doing that, not splitting. Returning projectiles hit things independently of non-returning projectiles. A given target can be hit once by a set of projectiles from a single firing, and once again by returning projectiles from that firing. This still gives a total of only 2 hits - they can't be hit by two returning projectiles any more than they can by two non-returning ones.

Splitting with snipers mark actually does work and allow for multiple hits on same target. I believe captain lance made a video about this

No it doesn't.

"x% of Life/Mana/Energy Shield" in PoE is always a % of the maximum value. This is commonly used throughout the game for stuff like "Regenerate x% of Life per second" and similar. Any weird thing taking a % of the current value instead would be explicit about that difference.

I specified it does not snapshot. It's based on your maximum energy shield, not on what your maximum energy shield used to be.

What happens to global stats on your weapons that affect your energy shield (like int or global increased ES)? Do these factor into the calculation for the Energy Blade damage or do the stats on your existing weapons get completely ignored?

The effect of the buff is a less energy shield modifier. You can scale that with buff effect if you like.

Your weapons are transformed into Energy Blades, which do not have the same modifiers.

Yes, or with two uses of the same skill.

You gain base lightning dmg based on 5%/100% of your energy shield. What does "Energy shield" here mean exactly? I see three possibilities: Current energy shield, current maximum energy shield, and maximum energy shield upon activation. By an example: Say you have 5k es, activate the skill (80% less ES), and take a hit of 500 dmg. Would the dmg gained then be based off the ES value being 500, 1000 or 5000?

Another one is since your weapons are transformed, does it matter what weapon you are using before activating the skill (other than it being 1h or 2h)? For example terminus est has the global mod to gain frenzy charge on hit, will this be disabled? (Yes i want to play energy blade flicker :D)

Also as OP mentioned, what is base attackspeed/crit? Or will this again be based on pre-transform weapons?

"% of Energy Shield" (or Life, or Mana) always means % of the maximum value. Effects that check a % of the current value will explicitly specify that behavior. The implicit lightning damage mod on the blade has values based on your maximum energy shield, and does not snapshot.

The Blades have the same sockets and links as before activating the skills, but are a different base type with different mods.

Can we get confirmation whether someone being linked with the new link skill can also link back to other player as well? For example, when I play with my gf can we both link to each other? So I give her some block and she gives me damage. Obviously with the downside of killing each other if either of us die.

If so these are the most interesting and fun skill gems I can remember ever being added to POE. In the past the ability to support another player in group play felt so limited without the huge currency and knowledge investment of going the aurabot route. And even then the gameplay didn't seem very interactive or interesting at all.

Bravo GGG! This league looks amazing.

There can only be a single link at a time between two given objects. If A links to B, B cannot simultaneously be linked to A.

The Energy Blade your weapon transforms into still has the same the sockets (and things in them)

edit: My understanding of battlemage is that it takes the damage from your weapon in your inventory (like everthing at the top of the info sheet when you hover over your item) and adds it to spells. Energy Blades says it "transforms" your weapon into something else, so its possible that it works like we would want it to work. Might just have to wait to test in game.

While you're wielding the Energy Blades, they are your equipped weapons, so their damage values are what will be used for things like Battlemage.

Unless it's going from taking no damage over time to taking damage over time, right?

For example, if you have the new passive on Trickster ("Every 10 seconds, take no Damage over Time for 5 seconds.") and you take a very long-duration damage over time effect (say, an ignite that lasts for more than 5 seconds), and then partway through that duration the passive kicked in stopping you from taking damage over time, you would be considered starting to take damage over time after those five seconds are up (assuming the ignite still has time remaining).

Yes. Changing from not taking damage over time to taking damage over time is starting to take damage over time.

a) Is Energy Blade a reservation skill that reserves ES in order to give you Energy Blade weapons?
b) Do Energy Blades require that you use another attack gem (meaning that what we saw in the trailer was Spectral Throw with Energy Blades equipped), or does having Energy Blades equipped grant you access to a separate skill that does what we saw in the trailer?
c) Is hitting with an Energy Blade considered a spell hit (no attack block, no Accuracy required) or attack hit (attack-blockable, requires an Accuracy vs Evasion check)?
d) There's an image of the 1h and 2h Energy Blades available in another post. They appear to have a pretty specific base damage rating. Does the amount of ES used/reserved have any effect on the blades (presumably increasing the base damage)?
e) Does equipping 1h Energy blades: 1) replace only the main hand weapon, allowing for shields and off-hand weapons to be used as normal; 2) repla...

No. Energy shield cannot be reserved.

The skill just gives you the weapons. If you want to attack with them, you'll need an attack skill that's usable with swords.

They're weapons. You attack to use them.

Quick yes or know because I have a general understanding just want the official clarification before plan my build around it.

Lethe shade. Does taking a new instance of dot say poison after being poison count as starting to take dot damage if you're already poisoned? A new stack is added so technically it's a start of a new instance.

Basically what I'm cooling with is self poison to refresh the cooldown on lethe shade every second.

I assume it's going to be a no because you're already taking damage and this is more of a continuing to take dot rather then starting to take dot but I can't find anything 100% and would appreciate the clarification.

Thank you ahead of time.

Changing how much damage over time you're taking is not starting to take damage over time.

They are not. This is in fact the reason the wording of those was changed ages back to "gained as extra" instead of "added as" - previously there were no modifiers that distinguished added damage from base damage, so when we added those we had to make sure not to describe non-added damage as added.

That would actually take more code, and be less performant, than the actual solution, which is that it just makes you unable to block and so your block chance is never queried in the first place.

Fascinating insight, thanks. That makes sense from an efficiency perspective while still having the flexibility to create effects like Blackflame.

So hypothetically, it would be impossible to add an effect to the game that said something like "Enemies take damage from your Poisons as if inflicted with twice as many Withered debuffs" because there would be no way to avoid that effect applying to all sources of Chaos DoT. But the generalized (and much stronger) effect "Enemies Poisoned by you take damage as if inflicted with twice as many Withered debuffs" would work with the current game engine.

Broadly yes. It wouldn't be able to be about number of withered debuffs, as individual debuffs can have modified effects, but it could e.g. make Withered have 100% increased effect on enemies poisoned by you, or similar.
