Looking into this - certainly not intended. What platform are you all on?

Edit - We verified that this was happening across the board. Found a server that was rejecting some data calls so we've had a polite chat with it and we reckon that we have a fix live. Sometimes this takes a while to take effect because of the way our servers cache data but we're in the process of validating all of this right now.

Update - The fix has shown us a dramatic decline on the failed data calls. Everything looks to be back in order and we're going to monitor through the night here in Europe. Our engineers are going to give it a deeper look through in the morning to understand what went wrong and see if we need to do anything else with it, but the present belief is that we've stopped the original issue from occuring.

XP is now showing to be correctly applying across TOW, Career, Weapons and Vehicles.

It's ridiculous. And people do it a lot and have been doing it for a long time.

For visibility (have commented elsewhere) this is something we have the team working on a solution for as a priority. Initially it was perceived to be not as severe as all weapons are reset, and the inventory emptied. when the plane drop kicks in.

We've learned since then that equipped armour carries through and so we want to ensure that we have this removed as swiftly as possible.

That response is rather odd given the fact that in the past when a released and certified patch contained a bug such as access to a weapon a week early it was patched/fixed within an hour. Closing off the door in the hanger would be a very quick/easy fix that shouldn't affect anything else. This is really a mode-breaking bug given how many people are now abusing it.

Server side fixes are things we can do in those rapid, short timeframes. A lot of the content in Battlefield has what we call Killswitches, so the scenario you raised is something that can be dealt with like that.

The suggestion I was responding too above involved physically changing the geometry of the hanger to account for the gap. That stuff requires deployment of patches.

I understand the desire to have this fixed urgently, it's matched by us.

Our community (perhaps stupidly) presumed the delay was in part due to this being patched, hopefully it is high on your priority list. You can say the instant you can implement something you will, but surely it’s not a time consuming challenge to simply remove the shelves, or close the door, or put a cage around the hangar, or reset loot on drop, or hell I don’t know cause I’m not a developer, but surely the talented staff at DICE do know. This can’t go on, it’s ruining every single server, I wish I was exaggerating, but it’s beyond broken dropping at loot sites to find them ruined, and then someone landing behind you with full armor.

The gang absolutely can and will fix it, and I'm not a developer either but I can volunteer that it's not a case of add thing, press send = fix.

Patches (even for single lines of fixes/changes) require a full battery of tests to pass certification processes set up by both ourselves and our peers at Sony and Microsoft. Whilst it might be that we only make one change, there's always the danger and risk that without properly testing it out, that it has an unintended knock on effect elsewhere that with time, we can account for. Final consideration to make is that at any one time, there can be several active development branches running on Battlefield V at one time and even if we dodge introducing a problem during the fixing process for an emergency patch, it's potential we introduce a problem for the active development content that also needs to be accounted for.

None of that's to downplay the severity of the problem, or to suggest that the issue won't get fixed in the ...

I guess the third word should have been "solo".

Third word should have been solo - yes.

Wait a second, please correct me if I missed it, but there’s no patch for people early jumping from hangar in Firestorm and basically ruining loot sites? This is rampant, 5-10 players are trying this or assembling in that area of the hangar to cheat or stop cheaters every single game!

We're aware of this. It was brought to our attention recently and the instant we can implement something that prevents it, we will. Naturally this patch was in development weeks ago and so expect that this is something we'll follow up on soon. There was no opportunity to react to this discovery with this update.

Just "hey, this is the mood at the studio, this is how the last update went, this is what we're testing/working on". Good quality production and hundreds of thousands of people see it. Following BF development is more like being a part of a speculative paint drying club

I'm personally a big fan of what they do on those.

Friend of mine had it as well, as other people talking about in the game chat.

Not sure the status of this one (as in if we have it fixed), but it is known to us and I have seen the gang attempting to reproduce the issue. Really appreciate having more examples to share with them so thank you for tagging <3

I also enjoy visual representations of changes. screenshots/small clips. like the ones the dev did for rolling landing on twitter and I think /u/Braddock512 did for the upcoming lightening/visual update.

But give us the bad and the good. Am sure its not all rainbows and headshots.

Looking forward to these future patches.

Upvoted for rainbows and headshots.

And this was the logic for it.

We know that there's a couple of different player behaviours out there - some show up just to play (no matter what), and others are more particular about the maps/gameplay styles that they like best. The belief is that what we've changed will allow players to stick with the same server for longer.

I can appreciate that some folks liked the shuffled gameplay styles aspect of the previous version, and for sure it's something that we're open to feedback on. We're not against mixing up the playlists more just because we've made this one change this week, and are even open to the possibility of introducing mixed modes playlists (same player count).

Please do keep offering the feedback - I wont struggle to get the attention of the folks who landed on the current rotations to share it with them <3

We are actually going to changing up how we deliver patch notes for Chapter 4 and beyond. Don't be shy to reply with what your expectations are for it because we'd love to hear it.

And yes, we've been told to expect this.

/u/PartWelsh this probably isn't the place to ask but will we ever hear anything from you guys about team balancing?

I mean, where better else to ask?

Yes you will hear from either me or /u/Braddock512 on the topic. Its something we both feel would be welcomed back to Battlefield, and we know that folks here share that.

I don't know what the present limitation is preventing it but we keep it fairly close to the top of our lists to get more insight on.

Although, I’m all for cutting the guy some slack as it looks like he may have been injured playing soccer yesterday.

I’m still alive! (Thanks for the concern 🧡)

Painkillers are absolutely taking the edge off!

(Update is elsewhere on the thread - it absolutely was this Friday I was hoping to have the update on it and I’m still banging my drum to bring it ASAP)

Was hoping to have a post on it this week detailing what’s coming, but we are waiting on the final decisions regarding how soon we can implement it.

It remains something we absolutely want to talk to everyone about before we get to EA Play. The second I see a date scoped out for it, I’ll be here with the full Orchestra to let folks know what’s cooking.

Let me look into that with the team tomorrow morning.

Edit: So it's a funky config issue that isn't behaving quite as we'd like (it's being looked into for an upcoming update) but you all should be able to do this on each platform to clear that up.

The funky part is that it depends on which class placed the AP Mine. If it was placed by a Recon, other Recons can defuse them, and so on across the classes. It's not ideal, we would prefer to ensure that each class can do it regardless.

That's fair feedback. Will share in the morning (I've only gilded one gun and you're right, I stick to a different sight too)

Apologies - was out for evening playing Football! It was a painful experience, I don't recommend it!

So :) Update time!

We do have something that we want to talk to everyone about concerning Ranks, and the current cap of 50. Everything is scoped and there's a pretty robust design in place.

Now its all about understanding what development resource can be committed to bringing it over the line. Once they've finalised their prioritisation processes, and can tell me when to expect it in the game, that's the point where we lift the curtain and open the conversation with you all.

I've been told to expect an update from the gang on Friday so I'll be sure to tag whatever I can, prominently, into the weekly wrap up.

I'm hoping that no matter when it's expected, we'll still be able to tell you what it is that we're doing, on Friday. If it's coming sooner rather than later, we'll likely go into more detail than if it's expected further down the road,...
