Hey there – thanks for calling this out! It looks like there was a discrepancy between the article and the reward that was given. The Twitch Drop earned will remain as delivered, and we apologize for confusion around this!

While they don’t have a barrier to creating new accounts, the new trusted status updates give 'em a definite barrier to actually being profitable, which we’ve seen to be working fairly well when it comes to data on the bots so far. There’s definitely more to be done, but that’s part of the reason these massive ban waves are happening after the changes to trusted status – so we can come at them from both sides.

Some of these changes, such as the gem chest requirements, are intended to be temporary. As we make further progress on the bot issue, once things get stable and are in a better place, we will be able to review them and see what changes we can make. Other changes, like the 3 day gold hold and gifting restrictions, are in place to prevent fraud from occurring in the game, which is more commonly an action that credit card and account thieves perform, not necessarily bots. As these changes have been highly effective for preventing fraud in the game, they aren’t likely to disappear anytime soon.

Full details and patch notes will be available next week, but for the most part these are UI improvements and some tweaks to co-op quest requirements to make them a bit easier to accomplish.

Please keep in mind there are several thousand of posts made every day and another load of daily direct messages I get in the forums alone (there have been over 5,000 posts made here since you first shared this) meaning you are not being ignored but it is quite literally impossible for me to read or catch every post that it is made.

Full compensation details have not been set yet, but we are looking at granting a mix of items to grant re-entries to content as well as energy potions and other items to try and mitigate the rewards that players were not able to earn from content they couldn’t complete during this time.

It will depend on how these bot removals hold and if we can continue to cull and keep them from the game. Once we’re in a solid, good place we may be able to revisit some of the restrictions and changes that have previously been put in place to combat bots.

Ban waves are always happening to some degree, however this week’s was of a particularly large scale which is why the impacts were so extreme. We’re looking to do a few more massive ones with big impacts, but the regular bans will keep rolling as well.

This change is intended to be temporary, but we won’t be reverting it quite yet. We’ll let players know when those restrictions are removed.

This is not something we’ll ever be doing, as we don’t want to encourage witch hunts for players. It would be super unfortunate if two players shared similar usernames, or a false positive happened, and we actively turned players against those folks. It’s just not worth putting an extra risky penalty on players who are already being actioned against.

I wouldn’t say they’re fixed, but we’ve seen some evidence of improvements for a number of players! Curious to see what other folks are saying they’re experiencing.

Weekly maintenance is required in order to keep game servers running and get those resets refreshed. Unfortunately there isn’t a way for us to not have weekly updates!
