Given your history playing D2 and PoE, I can understand why you would be restarting characters so frequently. In Last Epoch, the only permanent decisions are your class selections. Respecing is cheap and easy. I advise that you at least finish the campaign before restarting again.

What is "cap 3"?

What is "2 necro"?

The area level is listed in the top right corner, are you playing in areas that are the right level for you? If it's too hard, you can go to an easier area and level up.

Are you putting points into your skill trees?

Have you unlocked a mastery class yet?

I see in the one screenshot you posted that you are level 21. That is still very early in the game and numbers will go up a lot. If you're struggling this early, take it slow and be patient. It will take some time to advance.

You can have more than one character at a time. Characters can be respecialised if you make a mistake. You don't need to delete old ones and start over.

Crafting is simple and powerful. You will find plenty of crafting resources. Start early and craft often.

Try deleting your graphics settings ini file for the game. It will auto regenerate a new one with default settings.

The preview build is online only. 0.9 will have offline but the preview is online only.

All characters created in the last 2 multiplayer events will not become offline characters. They are no longer available to play.

Existing 0.8.5f live build characters will remain offline characters.

I think it's a requirement of playing Steam games? It's been a while since I've checked but I think I ran into a situation a decade ago where I had been without internet connection for about a month and it wouldn't let me start any game without logging in.

To be clear, the "30 days offline mode" was an example, not a description of the exact system. I expect that it will likely use a Steam infrequent validation system which I'm not sure how that works or what the requirements of it are. It could require "checking in" more or less frequently or maybe not at all. I'm not sure how the steam system works.

We don't have that system completed yet but it is currently slated as a launch feature but might be added earlier too.

Hi official portrait, which is used in the chat dialogue, was painted before things were quite so bad and he was still clean shaven. Things have gone downhill and he hasn't been able to maintain his appearance as much.

The main purpose of the multiplayer beta test events that happen pre-0.9 are to help us find bugs and test the servers so that when we do launch 0.9, it's stable and fun. This comes with the added bonus of a sneak peek at the upcoming content changes.

I expect that to most people this isn't an enticing thing really and that's totally fine.

We have been very careful to not wipe characters. We just can't trust that every character that people have played up until online is 100% legit. We can't migrate that data to our online environment smoothly and cleanly. These characters are still playable offline going forward.

Characters created between 0.9 and 1.0 are currently planned to be rolled into a "standard" cycle. The environment where characters go when a cycle finishes. We are not planning on deleting them.

Is it good to have some effects in the game be more powerful and narrow while others are more broadly useful but less powerful?

Edit: I appreciate the replies specific to on kill effects. That's not really what I was asking for though. I was more asking about having situationally useful effects in general.

I think that there has been some information lost in the shuffle. The survey was not attempting to answer the question "Should we have a trade system or not?" Many people wanted that to be what the survey was about. From that perspective, it might seem very biased. However, that was never a goal of the trade survey. It actually clearly states that right at the top.

Please do not spread misinformation.

It feels like you might have missed that the firm no trade announcement was for the 0.9 release.

I also think you might have missed that 0.9 and beyond will continue to have offline single player. It will actually be even more offline capable than before. This beta multiplayer test is specifically to get feedback on the multiplayer servers, not give early access to the new content.

It's just so tough to have discussions like this with skewed info so I thought I'd clear that up.

Just for the record, it's open to anyone, not just streamers and it's more of a beta opt in than a application thing.

The multiplayer beta branches for the events happening pre-0.9 are online only. You can play offline pre-0.9 by going back to the normal live game build.

As long as there wasn't some sort of problem with the process, you got in. You should have a new beta branch option for the game in Steam.

The next event doesn't really have slots to take up so if you're interested in even checking it out for a little bit, you can sign up no problem.
