We've published a small, client-only hotfix that addresses the following issues:
  • Fixed a number of Chinese and Russian translation bugs, including changing the server names back to their proper English names.
  • Fixed a bug that would allow NSO characters to remote pull the Colossus, causing them to spawn in dead with a bad camera angle. NSO should no longer be able to remote pull the Colossus Tank.
  • The Ordance Dampener should no longer cause the Infiltrator's cloak to display incorrectly in-person.
  • We addressed a performance issue that would occur when many nearby players had been buffed by an Ordance Dampener's effects.
  • RU/CN text should no longer be cut off on the "Open Map" button.
  • Fixed a bug when changing classes, the incorrect visual effect was being used. It's now using the correct green effect.
Today's hotfix will require a small download but no downtime. We are continuing to work on additional client-only fix... Read more

We haven't seen any performance impact related to the ordnance dampener, either in pre-update testing or in trying to reproduce the report on live servers this morning, but will continue to to look at it. If you're experiencing performance drops, please report as many circumstantial specifics as you're able! Makes it much easier for our QA team to reproduce so we can identify a device (video helps as well!).

Hey there - we haven't seen any notable performance impact related to the ordnance dampener, either prior to today's update or in trying to reproduce the issue this morning on Live. But we're going to keep looking at it in case there's an underlying issue interacting with another system. If anyone is able to share their specific circumstances - what you were doing, what you were interactive with, busy fight or no, the more detail the better - where this is happening, than it may be easier for us to reproduce and determine the fix.

Thanks for the report, we'll look at it.

Thanks for all the trailer love!! Our producer, Drewski, is a genius who has been making PS2 videos since early launch days. He embeds himself within the community for weeks at a time so he's only using authentic footage. Everything here is honest-to-god 4K capture from live servers, no CG or tricks. Really cool to see so many OGs responding to his style.

The full trailer was picked up first by Gamespot to run as a 24-hour exclusive (on their home page!) but as of today it's also up on our official Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6e0OT5g3aI&feature=youtu.be

What strange and ancient ceremony is this???

Good idea, and something we've thought of. We wanted to get the the initial feature ready and tested for live, since it was hotly requested. But something for the future.

No, it wasn't our intention to imply that. Just going for a cool effect for the OW scenes to build up toward before transitioning back to Auraxis.

One of our goals with trailers like these is to paint the full picture of what ps2 has to offer in 2020 - yes, we feature the Colossus, but also the Bastion and Desolation, new footage a lot of casual fans won't have seen. Authenticity and being true to our game is crucial, but the guiding idea is "if i had 2-3 minutes to convince my hardcore gamer buddy who hasn't played PS2 in years to get back in the game, what would i show them?" So yea, we do veer hype-ey sometimes :)

Nice eye! That is from that match, yea.

(FWIW: all the footage from the trailer is real gameplay from Live servers, nothing is manipulated or deceptively edited)

I won’t speak for my dude, but in true Carto fashion I don’t think he wanted a lot of fanfare or to make a big deal of it. We’ll certainly miss him, he’s one of the best of the business, and I can’t wait to see what he works on next. We’ve got a great team here tho and I think people will be pretty gd excited about what we’ve got coming up, it’s a bummer he won’t be around to rep all the work he did but I know he’ll be following :))

All PC Live servers will come down for maintenance tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9) at 6:00 AM PDT / 3:00 PM CEST. Downtime is expected to last up to 2 hours. This maintenance is to make improvements to our crash reporting and will have no gameplay impact. It will only impact Live servers - theTest Server (PTS) will remain unlocked.

I am only speaking for myself (the RPG team will be democratically voting on contest submissions) but IMO this man is one of the most talented video makers in the gaming community.

No worries! Sometimes there are lingering issues that flatten out after any connectivity problem is corrected - in truth, they often fix over (a short amount of) time as network traffic reroutes through optimal pathways, rather than all at once. But that’s why we try to monitor as closely as we can and make sure it’s truly fixed.

Anyway, glad you’re back in-game!

I don’t have much insight on what caused the outage, only that it was a network engineering issue that affected every game Daybreak operates. I will say the good news (for us) was that our TechOps team was able to get PS2 back up and running pretty quickly, faster than any other DB-operated game. But still investigating the root cause, and will of course monitor for any ongoing issues or additional reports of login errors across all server regions.
