The next season won't start with the release of HCEA - Max has some additional details in the Feb development blog (which I'm told is now live on Waypoint). And you'll always be able to go back and still unlock content from any prior season.

As of now there are no plans to add brand new users to this flight. It's only being extended by a few days.

It's not really an issue of manpower per say - there are multiple external development partners/studios contributing to MCC coming to PC. But the larger those teams become, the more challenging the whole project is to manage. Keep in mind the vast majority of the studio is completely focused on Halo Infinite. Ultimately the MCC work is still six complete games, most very old, being updated and brought to PC almost from square one which has proven to be no small feat. Features and issues always shift around and move up and down the priority list in game development - IMO every game has to inevitably make tradeoffs or it'd never ship. Good news is that the team is continuing to work on MCC PC and that work will continue on all the titles even after they've "shipped."

remember when they said "it would come sooner than you expected" and everyone was like ":0 before e3??" then we waited like a whole ass year, they definitely announced it too early.

We've been pretty open about the fact that some aspects of development proved to be more challenging and complex than originally scoped. The project took longer than originally planned or we'd have never have announced that early.

I believe the largest flight group we've invited to date was around ~150K people. That's only a fraction of the total Halo Insider audience so, statistically speaking, you're far from the only person who's yet to receive an invite. Sorry you haven't gotten selected yet - for this most recent flight, the team specifically added a lot of Insiders who've yet to be selected (in addition to re-inviting folks who were active in prior flights). I assume you have opted in for PC flighting and have a DXDIAG attached to your Insider profile?

Fun fact - that's actually an older track created by Kazuma! It was something he originally composed to be used as a theme track of sorts for Halo World Championship a few years back. It never really got used broadly.

Great to hear! Not too often that kind words bubble up in here, so thanks and we're happy to hear you and your buddies are having fun! Next up: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary! :)

Also, is the Insider Support site not working atm? The link in the email leads me to a page I'm 'not authorised' to view. I, and a few others here, have encountered a bug where you can't use the zoom function in CE:A. But we can't report the bug on the Insider Support atm.

An issue was identifed right away where some Insider flight groups were missing backened permissions to access the site. I believe it was quickly resolved. (thanks for visiting/using that site!)

As of now there are no current plans but it's usually TBD - if the team isn't getting the #s they need or engagement is low, they could opt to send out another wave. If not, there will be more flights!

6 hours now, still no 2nd email.

EDIT I finally got my second email with key 9.5 hours after first email.

We know this isn't an ideal process, especially as our scope and audience has grown dramatically. We're working on ways to further streamline this and hopefully get down to just one email in the future (including some other improvements we hope will alleviate some pain points we always see when these mass mailings go out)

Alas that likely means you weren't selected this time. While we did send out upwards of 100k invitations for this flight that's still only a fraction of our entire Halo Insider opted-in audience. We can't ever accommodate EVERYONE in a single flight but we will continue working to bring in new players. For this flight, players who were actively engaging in prior flights were brought back but the team also specifically created a user-group of Insiders who've never had a chance yet. Once in, make sure to participate if you'd like to increase your odds of staying in. :) (oh and make sure your Halo Insider profile is up to date - we always have folks that get selected but then they haven't verified their email so we have no way to send the invite)

Potentially related, I just want to point out that I got an invite to the Steam flights and also a Steam key even though I'm opted out of the Steam flights on my Waypoint profile. It's a shame that a key got wasted on me since I don't even have a Steam account.

We're aware of a small group that was invited that didn't opt-in for PC/Steam. Thankfully it's a small subset of users so it's not really to the detriment of someone else/the program itself. (in every flight a decent sized chunk of people never open the email / install the build)

We discovered a bit of a mistake there in terms of the 'start time' for the Steam event. Our weekly playlists updates usually go out around 10AM PT. Winter Contingecy is now live in the game (you'll find it in the Social Games match composer). We'll look at altering the Steam event info to better align with our title update timing.

Yea I don't really understand what they meant with winter contingency featured category.. I'm assuming it's some form of multi-player playlist.. Hopefully there's something to explain it..

It's now live in the game in the "Social Games" match composer. It went live at 10AM PT but I believe the "Steam Event" went live/was advertised beginning at 12AM today, which created some confusion.

Enforcement actions will increase in severity for repeat offenders with a minimum ban of 60 days for a 2nd offense. Ultimately it will vary a bit depending on the situation / severity / cause but in general, keep doing bad things and the repercussions will grow in severity. Check out this article for a bit more insight: Why Did I Get Banned?

Custom Game Browser... keeping the faith alive since 2018. I 'member. (jokes aside, it's still on the list for the team)

The team is currently in the process of running a new round of queries as a follow-up to the last wave of bans. This will catch new offenders and issue more severe second strikes to people who received smaller bans last time and immediately resumed this behavior (the most egregious offenders from the last round should still be banned unless they made new accounts - which many probably did).
