Where's the Halo Infinite gameplay! It's been years!

Without that multiplayer is hell with that slow and clunky old school matchmaking.

a custom game browser was something the team shared intentions for a long, long time ago. it's still on the list and I'm pretty hopeful we'll get there but it's going to take more time. As the whole project became more challenging and time consuming than originally anticipated, several quality of life improvements and community-requested-features had to get moved to the backlog until more time/resources can be devoted to it.

Damn forgot questions weren't allowed

Nothing said it was "going to come out today" that I'm aware of, minus the official launch trailer that briefly appeared on Steam a week early.

FWIW, I get really bad screen tearing even when capped at 60 fps with a GTX 1060 (6 GB) at 1440p. Not sure if this is something I should report on the Halo Support site. I do not have V-sync enabled, though, due to the input lag - but even in other games like CSGO, I get much less screen tearing with V-sync disabled. I don't know if there's a way to reduce the excessive screen tearing outside of enabling V-sync (in the case where the GPU can render >= the number of frames supported by the monitor).

If you'd be willing to file a support ticket, it would be helpful. The more tickets we get around and issue helps the team better assess the scope of impact. And often new tickets include new info and insights for the team as they work to investigate and resolve issues.

Seriously, it's been months since MCC was released on PC. Where's the file share too?

File share has regrettably been a pretty big challenge on numerous fronts. The April MCC Dev blog touches on it a bit. Without a File Share, Forge is incredibly limited thus hasn't been released yet. The good news is all the UI and PC control work is generally done now, so the team has made progress since Reach. Now just need a bit more time on File Share stuff. We'll share more info as soon as we have it.

Hell yea. I’m pumped. Haven’t plays MCC PC since reach. Did they fix the screen tearing?

VFR implementation in MCC on PC is still considered 'experimental' and is generally at parity w/ Reach and HCEA. I suspect some players who enabled uncapped will still encounter screen tearing in situations where framerates dont match up to their monitor refresh rate. The team wants to dig back into that down the road and has some ideas to make the experience better but it's going to take time.

Wonder how many of the known issues from the flight will remain on the 12th. Playing with 500+ fps and having heavy input (buttons, not camera movement) delay felt awful.

There are definitely known issues at launch. Some of those are persisting from flighting (though some of the feedback areas from flighting were never validated / repro'd / deemed a true 'issue' outside of a one-off case). We'll hopefully get the known issues list posted before release.

Honestly though they should just fix all the issues with Reach and CE before continuing to release more. Piling bugs ontop of bugs just to "fix them later" is what caused the issues with MCC in the first place. What ever happened to "Its ready when its ready".

We'd love to do that - trust me, the team doesn't feel great or enjoy a growing backlog of issues/feedback areas. It's complicated - there are different workstreams and different partners doing different things. Not all things are equal in terms of time/resources/complexity. Based on player feedback early on, the decision was made to offer the 'bundle' so we now have many, many customers who have paid up front for products we promised this year. The team has to continue moving forward on the remaining four titles and unfortunately this has meant that some backlog items have ended up taking longer than hoped (particularly as the entire studio shifted to an indefinite work-from-home situation - which has had a real impact).
H2 will have 'issues' at launch - all games do. The team has done their best to attack critical issues raised during flighting and get to what they feel is a solid foundation for release. Most players will have a good experience w/ H2 come next week. We will...

Basically none of the problems from the Reach flight were fixed before release, even after months of delays. Safe to say the game is going to release with a ton of bugs whether they do it today or in a week, so might as well just shove it out now.

That's just not true. Many "problems from the Reach flight" were indeed addressed by launch. Others were not - some were addressed in later updates, and still others are still in progress (audio, for example). The scope and severity of the current known issues vary and the team continues to do work and we do our best to provide transparency into status and expectations - while they also have to keep moving forward with four more games owed to customers who've purchased the bundle.

Just a guess. i honestly think the game was originally to plan on releasing on May 5th but it received a delay a few weeks back. Probably was a communication error.

Reasoning for this is that the trailer that they uploaded originally said Available Now, which was a mistake and it was replaced. As well, a Mouse pad was released today to celebrate H2A PC release.

Link to Mousepad: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/halo-2-anniversary-mousepad/8w3whql533vp

The game was actually never going to release today - it was always May 12. Sorry folks got jebaited somewhat - I don't disagree that Twitter interaction was a little misleading (esp given that we did release HCEA out of the blue with little notice, so I don't blame folks for thinking that was the case again). As soon as I saw the tweets I knew what the outcome expectation would be (and I tried to course correct this AM). And that trailer wasn't actually meant to be published today - that trailer is for launch on 5/12. There was a brief issue where it went live on the Steam page, I believe it was rectified.

wow, this takes me waaaay back. not sure of this exact date but i was surely pretty new to the team. really striking how small this team was (and just really puts into perspective how much a small team was able to accomplish). and jason's pure creative drive, unwavering commitment to only do the best at anything, and reluctance to 'lead' in a corporate sense made him that much more authentic and inspiring

I just feel like a lot of those guys have a little bit more of an understanding of what fans want, as opposed to 343, as they interact with their audience on a regular basis. I mean, Act Man and HiddenXperia (and probably some others) both are constantly on top of Halo news on multiple platforms for disseminate, theorize, analyze and discuss with us.

I'm not as deep into 343 news as some other people, but I never hear about how they host a type of forum to have a real discussion with hardcore fans to get "street level" opinions about the biggest successes and failures of the IP. Idk, probably not gunna happen but it's clear Halo 4 and Halo 5 let a lot of people down. Especially using other media sources to dull out critical plot points (Like the f**king Didact).

We do have some various groups we tap into officially and unofficially. Sometimes they come to the studio, sometimes we reach out to them. We have flighting programs, we also have all sorts of surveys and marketing studies and user research programs. And our community team (and much of the studio) is comprised of fans. So, I feel pretty dang confident I/we know what "fans want." They want a lot of things. :) Sometimes the same things, often times very different things. We/community team in particular take our responsibility to represent our community and their needs and opportunities very seriously. Advocating for players is a huge part of our jobs. It's not always easy and there's generally healthy tension in both directions (which is how it also was back in my OG days at Bungie though honestly, at Bungie we did less overt work to try and listen/gather that feedback than is the norm today).

That was fun to watch, thanks! And oof that picture of me... I vividly remember that. Spike Game Awards. Red carpet. Pretty cringey but we just said hell with it and went all in. Then we heard about an after party at an LA club but naturally we weren't invited. Marty made plays and we had a limo pick us up from the Spike venue and just drive right up to the VIP/limo drop off line at this party and just got out and walked up like we owned the place (well, Marty did as I recall, I just followed his lead). We got inside and I remember Marty being pretty disappointed - it wasn't his scene. I was loving it ;) the whole upstairs of this club was blocked off with large bouncers and then I saw a who's who of rappers up there. Snoop, Ludacris, Little John, and others evidently got the whole upstairs blocked off so they could smoke blunts. A huge heavy smoke hung over the whole club. This was like many years before 'legalization' was remotely a thing. Things got.. fuzzy after that, but it's ...

Decisions decisions! FYI that MCC is currently on sale on Steam! But on Microsoft Store, you could opt to get MCC via Xbox Game Pass for PC (which is a great deal).

Idk if it's just me, but I find that Challenges in just about every game are designed so poorly. First of all, there definitely needs to be a larger sum of seasonal points. Just 1 doesn't cut it, sorry. Especially for challenges that have you do campaign missions on Legendary, it's time consuming and you're doing all of this for one lousy seasonal point. Oh, and 50k exp, but if you're already in the higher ranks where you need millions of exp, what good does 50k do? I'd rather take 3 seasonal points over 1 seasonal point and 50k exp.

Moving Flight invites to Halo Waypoint is questionable. I know why it's being done; to give Halo Waypoint more traffic/activity, but at the same time it just doesn't reall...

sorry you feel that way, but there's no desire to 'move traffic to Waypoint.' If anything, that 'traffic' is just more server load, no? Not like we're monetizing or advertising, etc.. The reality is that sending out hundreds of thousands of emails has proven to be spotty and unreliable and every flight we have a lot of folks who never get the email or are missing one or the other. Different ISPs and email clients have different rules handling mass emails and spam that we can't fully predict and work around. We are removing 3rd parties and that uncertainty from the equation and handling it in-house which will be more reliable, consistent, and streamlined for our internal processes. If an Insider wants to flight and participate, we dont feel it's too much to ask to stop by Waypoint to read the necessary info and pickup a key to install the build.

correct - we don't have a firm date quite yet. As folks below noted, the team just did a Ring 1 pre-flight over the weekend which is the first step. It allowed us to test the new Waypoint Insider messaging/invitation system primarily and I believe several build blockers are still being actively worked on. Unfortunately this new reality we live in with everyone working from home and impact to our dev partners has introduced a bit more unpredictabiltiy but the team is working through it as best they can.

Realistically there won't be any signficant developments here in the near term. There are all sorts of things the team would love to get to - and hopes to - but for the foreseeable future the priority is shipping the remaining titles and addressing existing issues/features.

Thanks for the flag - I didn't see this OP. I'll pass it along to the team - curious myself what the level distribution looks like and how many outliers are stuck unable to find suitable matches. It's a tough issue as population varies.

Unf there was just too much intertwined in that update and a real need to get the titleIDs and back-end re-aligned between Xbox and PC. Definitely not ideal by any means. My understanding currently is that the root cause has been tough to pin down - the team is still investigating. Hopefully people can continue filing tickets w/ Halo Support to help provide more clues and insights.
