Of course, optical or IR tracking on SPAA have limitation: Your targeting range is reduced compared to radar, tracking performance is poor in bad weather and you can't lock a target in 3rd person view.
Oh, and for those top tier mixed battles players. The ItO 90M just got optical tracking, similar to the FlaRak and others. This let you lock a target optically (passive lock) and is not affected by ground clutter. Look for "switch between radar and IRST" in the controls.

In January 1938, 85 years ago, the SB2U-2 Vindicator first flew. The SB2U was the first U.S. fixed wing aircraft to be designated the dive bomber roll. It served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, the French and Royal navy, and saw combat in the Battle of Midway in 1942.

In January 1936, 87 years ago, the Heinkel He 51 C-1 made its first flight. The C-1 switched from fighter to ground attacker, armed with 4 x 50 kg bombs. This was because of poor fighter capabilities. 79 served in Spain with the Legion Condor and Nationalist air force.

The Mitsubishi Ki-109 "Army Heavy Fighter Interceptor" made its first flight 79 years ago. Originally a modified Ki-67-I, the Ki-109 featured a 75 mm tank cannon in the nose and 1 x 12.7 mm gun in the turret. 24 Ki-109's were built, however didn't see combat.

Production of the Do 217 E-2 began 82 years ago. First developed as a further improvement of the Do 17Z bomber design, the plane became an entirely different design in itself. Compared to its predecessor, it had vastly superior defense, capacity, and could dive bomb.
