JUNE 22, 2022

User Interface and Accessibility

• Fixed an issue where the camera’s field of view could be increased past 90.
  • Developers’ note: The ability to restrict the field of view was added in 9.2.5 as an accessibility measure to help alleviate motion sickness. All of World of Warcraft – the art, combat mechanics, and player interactions – are built within the parameters of the user interface experience and scale. Increasing the field of view beyond the limit that has been in place since WoW launched was not intended.

Burning Crusade Classic

• [With realm restarts] To address ...

Yes. We’re currently testing a fix that will require realm restarts. We prefer to do “off-peak” restarts whenever possible, so that’s usually early-morning hours in each region.

Our development and quality assurance teams have made bug reporting as effective and efficient as possible in our World of Warcraft test environments. This has been accomplished by vastly expanding our tools and methods to utilize in-game bug reports. Our improved results from this arrangement have been so valuable that we do not prioritize monitoring forums and social media for written bug reports as we used to.

If you encounter any bug or issue to report while testing the Wrath Classic Beta, please activate the in-game bug report tool and tell us about it.

For the first week of Beta we are capping leveling to 76 and addon usage is prohibited. We will raise the level cap to 80, allow flying in Northrend, and open up level 80 Heroic dungeons for testing and allow addons in the coming weeks.

One of the major areas we would like feedback on is the functionality of the newly revamped Group Finder tool. You can find a deep dive of information about the tool here. Please put it through its paces and let us know what you think!

The transfer restriction, as well as the restriction on both factions on PvP realms, as well as the single-realm character limit were all lifted earlier this evening.

It’s a bug, and it’s been tricky to fix.

But we’re working on it and we hope to have a solution soon.

One of the most common pieces of feedback we’ve received (and observed ourselves in our own adventures) is the concern about pervasive sales of dungeon boosting services in-game. It often overpowers chat with advertisements and makes certain channels hard to use for their intended purpose.

It’s also no secret that the gold from many boosting groups is used for illicit activities such as Real-Money Trading (RMT), as much of the gold that players pay to boosters is then sold for real money back to other players.

Now that we’ve seen the final major content release of Burning Crusade Classic, we will soon adjust the behavior of creatures in most dungeons (including the new dungeons coming in Wrath of the Lich King Classic) to make it significantly more difficult to endlessly snare and kite enemies. Additionally, we will implement a reduction to group XP earned when there is large disparity between player levels in the same group.

As we continue work on Wrath of the Lich King Classic, we want to celebrate the defeat of Kil’Jaeden and the Burning Legion (again!) with a bit of a special event to help get players ready for their adventures in Northrend.

In the coming weeks, we will implement a global buff that we’re calling “Joyous Journeys”. During the time this buff is active, all sources of experience points will award 50% additional XP.

We haven’t locked down the specific timeframe for when this buff will activate, but we expect it to last for at least 6-8 weeks; beginning a few weeks before the 3.4.0 Pre-Patch and persisting right up until the day that Wrath of the Lich King Classic launches. This buff should provide a great opportunity for everyone who may have fallen behind the leveling curve, or anyone with alts they want to prep for the next adventure to jump in and get caught up to level 70 ahead of the release of Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

We’ve seen a number of questions from players regarding the physical Collector’s Edition, which recently went on sale, and how they might be able to use the game code as a part of their purchase.

As there is no digital delivery of the code ahead of receipt of the physical box, there are two scenarios in play.

Players who aren’t concerned about getting access to any advance content or their digital items ahead of receipt of their Collector’s Edition box, can wait for it to be delivered to their shipping address. Once received, the game code can be found in the box and can be applied to the account they would like to upgrade to the Epic Edition of Dragonflight.

For those who would like to enjoy any advance content or their digital items before they receive the physical Collector’s Edition, they can purchase one of the digital options available and upgrade their account to Dragonflight immediately.
