Greetings all and welcome to our new forum series, Dev Discussion! Dev Discussion topics are kind of like a "reverse Q&A" - rather than you asking us questions about Ashes of Creation, we want to ask YOU what your thoughts are.

Our design team has compiled a list of burning questions we'd love to get your feedback on regarding gameplay, your past MMO experiences, and more. Join in on the Dev Discussion and share what makes gaming special to you!

Dev Discussion #1 - Memorable Content

If you’ve got an amazing community creation you want to share with the world, we’d love to see it! This section of the forums is for fan-made media content (i.e. YouTube, Twitch, fan art, pictures of IRL creations, etc.). When you share your content in this section, you are confirming the following things:
  • You are the original creator of the content provided or have permission from the original creator - you should note who the original creator is in your post. As the original creator, you have not used any AI-generated elements.
  • You give Intrepid Studios permission to share your content on other platforms
  • (such as Facebook or Twitter for Fan Art Fridays).
We recommend also including at least a brief description of your creation when you post it. We like to credit your work when we share it, so if you want us to give you a shoutout, please include your name and/or social media handles in your post!
Nodes are a key component of the Ashes of Creation MMORPG, and our “Know Your Nodes” series of blog posts is a great way to learn more about them! From the basics to more advanced design plans, this ongoing series aims to give you a look at all the aspects of Nodes.

As for the data breach, the appropriate parties have been notified and also given instructions to avoid potential hazards from the breach.

I've owned an account with your website and even had a forum account too since essentially day 1 of the website. I had received no warnings nor mentions about this and as a long standing account owner of your website, I find it rather rude to not have been sent an email about this data breach and only to find that I had to re-validate my email address. If you want people to take you seriously then you should of sent a heads up email to every account on your website. Instead though I had to find out about this through this reddit post.

Next time something like this happens, sending a email to everyone would be much more appreciated.

Hello friend, the breach was contained to about 100 players. Those accounts were notified.

The original moderation team wasn't selected, you did a coup on the inactive team. Lmao if your worry is inactivity in the moderation team, let the community choose the moderators. We all know you're making a bad faith argument.

I ensure that the current volunteer mods are active and held accountable.

So we just have to the word of a guy who made his money scamming people with fake health products? Let the community choose the moderators

I dont know if you know this, but its impossible to censor reddit, because censoring is public and can be tracked. The benefit of myself being able to review moderation action (such as this actual thread)

You can view removed/moderated posts or threads using these sites, in addition people can also bring to my attention removed or censored threads directly, and I will reverse any decision that does not coincide with our guidelines.

I didn't do any coup...the previous owner emailed me and asked if I would like to take it over as he would not have the time to manage it. Nor have I ever scammed people with fake health products, or been part of a pyramid scheme despite the lies that are spread. Regardles...

The purpose of an official subreddit is to ensure accountability for exactly the things you are describing.

How does that make any sense? The problem with a company running its own subreddit is the possiblity for censorship. You are the only ones who choose "volunteer" moderators. It's why it's a violation of reddit policy.

If you had a legitimate interest in the health of the subreddit, you'd allow the community to vote on a new moderation team, then personally leave the moderation team. Answer me this: why won't you allow the community to choose its own moderators (hint: we all know why).

Which by the way, you did not send me examples of censorship. ;)

You seem to be missing the fact that every subreddit is supposed to be community run, and you're in violation of reddit policy by being involved in the moderation team of any subreddit related to your product.

We know why you're dodging an answer though. It's because you censor any form of criticism of your company. Particularly when the criticism is grounded in actual incidents of malpractice.

Please provide examples of this censorship so I can address them. The purpose of an official subreddit is to ensure accountability for exactly the things you are describing. As well as to ensure that the subreddit itself is held to an acceptable activity standard, which the previous owners did not do. You are invited to create or join another community run subreddit. That is your right ;)

Greetings, to clarify Intrepid does not seek to censor anything

Prove it by having every employee of Intrepid step down from the moderation team and by allowing the community to vote on a new moderation team. There's no reason for you to be moderators of a community site unless you want to be able to censor criticism of your actions.

We have addressed this before. There are several community run subreddits for Ashes of Creation, I would recommend visiting them.

Hey u/Rivalistic, I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Been helping you guys out behind the scenes and this seems to be a widespread concern that's stemming from a few web related hiccups.

The most common issue we're seeing during the migration is what u/Saltrenis pointed out - the known login issue with uppercase letters for some users. For now use all lowercase letters when logging into the website or launcher. Alternatively we have people coming back who have forgotten their passwords or login details. This will usually generate a "Password Invalid" message if the password is incorrect, or a "Username Invalid" message if likewise, the username is wrong.

Unfortunately the sel...
