Serious quotation: What was confusing about "hand in" quests? Aren't we still losing the items we're now "gather and donating" so isn't it the same thing?

Not quite - the remaining "gather and donate" is only for quest-specific unique items. Handing in things like Aetherhearts (the most common confusion/compliant), Trials Marks, currencies etc. are all being removed.
And yep while I'm sure lots of the more seasoned folks understand the process here, this was a common point of feedback, support tickets etc. so something we wanted to clean up.
Expert terribad here. This will go in the face of every piece of meta advice ever. I learned this out of curiosity on what the real entry barrier to Heroics is. In short, I wanted to see if it was accessible to players that struggle with the game for one reason or another.
Trials require a lot of learning moves. Hescas require the right build mostly.

External link →Hi, we no longer require Xbox Live Gold for Dauntless.
However, the old in-game message that mentions Live Gold covers a general set of use cases where the Xbox service returns that you do not have permissions to play the game from the console/service side. This could be a restriction due to age ratings, online access, and a number of other cases.
I would recommend reaching out to Xbox Support here, as they should be able to tell you why Xbox Services are returning to our game that you are not allowed to play it.
