Oopsy doopsy
So just to clarify. This exploit existed in the game early on and was fixed a long time ago as it messes with the extraction part of some missions. It has now come back in S4 because we were trying to improve escape pod landing locations (it was sometimes coming down in really bad spots). We are looking into ways of fixing it while keeping the new improved escape pod logic.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I generally feel that we do have a better and tighter community than other games in general, but that also makes the negative things stand out much more. And we're at a size and reach where toxicity (including toxic positivity) is inevitable and visible.

If I've seen a couple people with the new hat, is it possible they just set their system clock forward to play the event early? Or are they using more forbidden methods?

There are hundreds of people who enjoy learning, practicing and perfecting different strats, skips to optimize missions. I bet many people find the author a hero.
Calling someone who found this out and probably had tons of emotions of finding this skip, while no other veteran player did, is a pure madness and a slap in the face to people who don't want to spend up to an hour on a single mission.

We’ve already discussed this to death. I get that some of you are feeling that there’s more implied to this, but there’s not. It’s a light-hearted joke on skipping the extraction not being in the games spirit. It’s not an insult to people exploring, speed running, finding cool shortcuts etc. It’s a themed encouragement to stay within the game’s boundaries because it’s designed that way.
