Hi Engineers!

Here comes our first update in March. And, an important functional update is also coming soon!

Feature:
  • From now on, the savedata will also save its creator's ID. The players will be able to see the savedata creator's ID in the right upper corner of the game.
  • Improved some UI interactive SFX.
Changes:
  • Data reduction of Dyson shell. The length of archive data generated by Dyson shell is reduced by 50% ~ 60%, and the save/load time is reduced by 20% ~ 30%.
  • Data reduction of Sorters and Assemblers.
  • The research materials won't be returned immediately after the research list is suspended. This change is made to avoid the loss of items caused by the logic of "No item will be returned for fractions of a count".
  • The scene at the end of the prologue is improved.

How's going, engineers!

Good day engineers! First of all, as you know we are a Chinese team, and we just celebrated our new year – so we want to wish you all a wonderful Year of the Ox!

A meme is popular among the Chinese communities saying that "I already forget what my job was in 2020 after the Chinese New Years holidays." Don't worry, we didn't forget! We remember and care about everything you care about - the roadmap, localizations, etc. While doing some sorting on our work, we are bringing a new development log here for you!

Calling all mechanics!
New devblog, coming through! This time, we want to focus on a few things that are coming up in the not-too-distant future and also show a few new things that are in the works for the next survival chapter.





Cablebot
Watch out! There are more bots incoming in the next chapter:
While traveling deep underground, you might encounter the cablebots: they travel in big numbers and love digging holes with their cable clippers. No one knows why the cablebots are that deep in the first place yet; perhaps you will find the answer to this mystery in a future update. 
Until then, you had best prep some chests with potatoes and dust off that spudgun; you’re going to need it.

Happy new year to all the Dyson Sphere Program engineers!

The Chinese New Year holidays has gone, and the first update log for 2021 is already here!
For the Roadmap, we are doing final sorting and adjusting, and it will be updated as soon as possible.

  • Add new soundFX for labs
Changes:
  • Optimized UI of smelters/assemblers. The mecha inventory will no longer display if no recipe is selected.
  • Reduce the soundFX volume of smelter and optimize its attenuation range.
Bugfix:
  • Fix a thread safety issue in random planet generation algorithms.
  • Fix a rendering glitch when building a massive number of labs. (more than 2,048)

Calling all Mechanics!
2020 is coming to a close and we’re here to end it on a good note with a special devblog! Here are some of the things we’ve been working on since the release of Scrap Mechanic’s Survival Mode earlier this year.

Hi Mechanics!

We are excited to finally drop this update!
This update will lay out some of the groundwork for the upcoming new survival chapter that we are working on right now. In this update we did a ton of bug fixes and improvements. We also added a few new fun things to survival mode like the Beacon and the Logbook! We know this is not a huge update. But rest assured that a big survival update is in the works with a lot of new content and it’s shaping up to become something amazing!


Beacon
Beacon is a very useful new interactive part that will help you set navigation waypoints in the world. This will make exploration much easier. It can now be crafted in the Craftbot!



Logbook
The Logbook can now be unlocked in the crashed ship.

Hi Mechanics!

This test turned in to a pretty long one as you might have noticed. We ended up doing a lot of small fixes. But also because we wanted to add a few more things for testing before we drop it.
Today the 30th of October we finally added the new Beacon interactive part that we’ve been teasing on our Twitter. The Beacon will help you set navigation waypoints in the world to make exploration much easier. It can now be crafted in the Craftbot! Some other highlights are fixes to the UI and main menu that we didn’t find time to add for the survival release. There is still more work to be done to the UI but we are getting there. We also fixed a bigger issue where the frame rate dropped for no clear reason for some players after playing longer sessions in survival. That should not happen anymore.

We are back with a new update! Thanks for helping us test it out!
This time we’ve been focusing on making sure the languages are fixed and updated.
They unfortunately didn’t make it on time for the survival release, but they are back in Scrap Mechanic now!
