During the week following Update 14, we would all like to thank you for your thoughts and constructive feedback following release.

In light of feedback and your communication here (thank you again!), the team have been working on an update to address a number of issues outstanding since Update 14 landed.

To that end, let's ready up!

At approximately 15:00 UTC today, 'Elite Dangerous Live' servers will go offline for approximately 1 hour in order to deploy a client side Update 14.01.

We wanted to take this opportunity to clarify some details about system states within the Thargoid War:

[LIST]
[*]The UI provides time in weeks: this is how long the system will remain in a given state. If the state isn't pushed back it will progress (Alert to Invasion or Invasion to Controlled).
[*]If the progress bar is filled at the end of a week, the state will be pushed back and Thargoids will be defeated in that system. If not, the bar is reset for the next week. Players have as long as the time stated in the above to defeat the Thargoids.

With these points in mind, a number of systems are currently liable to remain under attack as progress resets with the weekly tick on Thursday. However there is still time to win them back!

A post to share a little information today on an issue that quite a few of you have previously raised, whereby filtering by ship (and other filter methods at times) in the Elite Dangerous Gamestore was not working for you.
In other instance reports, the product carousels were sometimes looking incorrect in their aspect ratio from time to time also.

I'm pleased to say that these issues have now been addressed and those of you who were experiencing problems previously will now be able to correctly filter products, and will see improvements to the product carousel.

Thank you so much to those of you awaiting further clarity on this today.

Following the deployment of Update 14.01 yesterday, there have been reports of Exobiologists having their current rank progress prior to the release, reverting to 0%.

Naturally this is causing some concern, which can hopefully be addressed here in this thread.

Key note: Your current progress bars in Exobiology ranking, following rebalancing work undertaken as part of update 14.01 are not representative of your actual rank at present. You have not, at this moment in time, lost progression. This is a visual conflict and we would like to reassure you of that for now.

This is part 1 of this message, just to ease any concerns ahead of more information I can provide for you all tomorrow.

The new look Galnet looks great with nice pictures and formatting, However it misses something that was on the old page. namely a calendar and the ability to easily go back and look at older news stories.

REFUGEES FLEE FROM THARGOID OFFENSIVE - 5 December
People are running from Thargoid controlled systems almost as quickly as the rest of the CM Team run from me when I bring up my latest "Game suggestion". The Thargoids continue to aggressively target human stations and settlements, forcing the local populace to fight back, flee or have an existential breakdown whilst disintegrating. Humanity continues to fight back but the Thargoid war machine is at full strength right now and shows little sign of breaking down.

To update futher on yesterday's acknowledgement of concerns over the recent changes brought to Exobiology rank progression:

Following the deployment of Update 14.01 there have been reports of Exobiologists having their rank progress prior to the release reverting to 0%.

Developer Note:
In 14.01 we altered the thresholds for each rank along the Exobiology progression scale.

Effectively, we've moved the markers along the progression scale that denote where the start and end points of each rank are, in order to bring more harmony between the increase made to biological payouts vs how they were then affecting original rank progression.

This afternoon we have deployed a stealthy, server side fix to address the following issue experienced by a number of Commanders, when making attempts to dock aboard their personal Fleet Carrier:

Issue: Server connection errors (often 'Scarlet Krait') when docking at personal Fleet Carrier. Carrier is also shown as "jump locked" in the Galaxy Map.

Happy New Year to you all! I hope your enjoyed you holidays and are excited to be back fighting the good fight against the Thargoid menace.

The purpose of this thread is to collect feedback on the Thargoid War in one place. Thank you all who have already contributed your thoughts and ideas which we are also gathering. Now that the Thargoid War has been raging for some time, we're taking stock to inform potential changes.

We're aware of a number of things already, ranging from the specifics of AX combat such as the Xeno-Scanner range of 500m being too short given the instant hostility, to the overall way the war operates. For instance, there is no particular focused effort encouraged via the game itself leaving players to organise themselves if they want to save given systems.
