If you don't like it, then play something else. Everyone has their own reason for liking the game. What you find boring, others might find fun. Don't try to gatekeep others' fun.

While we by no means can guarantee any changes will take place on this front, we do always value feedback such as this :)

Not to diminish the value of people's reviews - but they are usually based on very specific things. Broken save files with an update is a common reason for bad reviews. A bug introduced with the update (and probably/hopefully patched away by now).

Or it is one specific change in the update they didn't like - which might play differently now. The point is that the bad reviews are usually not relating to how important owning that specific expansion is to the overall experience today.

We are aware of the quite steep entry cost - which is why we introduced the subscription option for €5 / month to make it a bit more affordable (up front at least) to try out the full EU4 experience.

Try restarting steam properly (go to the menu and exit)

Than maybe try a full reinstall of the game and submit a ticket through support.paradoxplaza.com if the problem persists.

I'm a bit biased - but I think the subscription service is probably a good idea. I'd also suggest checking out some of all the let's plays and tutorials that you can find on YouTube. I know that we are a bit lacking on the tutorial side from Paradox - but we are blessed with an excellent community of people producing helpful material for newcomers.

Custom hotkeys is a long sought after feature - it's not simple to implement however. If it was we would have done it long ago.

This should be fixed in 1.32.2 I believe - stay tuned for more info (We are really trying to get it out within a few days)

Try verifying the integrity of the game files - Right click EU4 in Steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity... - and relaunch the game.

Make sure that the game has the correct checksum, which is: 78cb (Check in-game, not in the launcher as that always shows the latest correct checksum, not what you actually have)

This is provided you are playing with Random New World - if you haven't enabled that option your crash might not be solved by 1.32.2

There is a known issue when loading games that has a Randomly Generated New World may crash. A fix is scheduled for 1.32.2 - our apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Are you playing with a Random New World maybe?

There is unfortunately a known issue where if you load up a game with a randomly generated new world it will cause crashes :/
