Hey all,

All previously known issues and text changes have been completed now and Singularity has been updated with the latest version (only a few bug fixes for edge cases are still missing, mostly around joining and leaving alliances while at war).

It would be great, if you could take a look at the feature, if you are either experienced with war declarations, or just interested in them. Please send bug reports for everything related to these changes which looks wrong (for example also including typos in the new texts). It would also be great to hear through a bug report, if you find any particular ways to abuse these feature changes (which you might not want to spell out here in this forum).

Regarding the discussion about multiple War HQs: We discussed this also once more within the team, but we decided to stick for now with the current design of allowing multiple War HQs for different wars. On one hand it would have probably opened up several problematic edge...

Could I get details on the X crash please?

At the moment there’s no difference between beta and release in either the launcher or wine, so it’s very odd that it would crash with one but not the other.

Currently the launcher is pulling down wine-staging-4.4 by default.

Re the DXVK stuff, the best way to speed that along would be to give me very specific instructions that I can follow to the letter and then immediately test.

I suggest the following:

  1. Allow the launcher to download the default wine
  2. Go to the wine folder in the shared cache (often something like ~/.eve/wine) and do a git init there, then add and commit everything to create a baseline
  3. modify the contents of the wine folder in place to have the patches you’d like me to implement
  4. Launch the client to ensure your modifications work
  5. Send me the git diff of what you’ve changed
  6. ...

CCP does not support linux, and I’m not interested in attempting to partner with valve as an individual :stuck_out_tongue:

While there’s a lot going on at the event over the course of four days, the actual schedule of presented content occurs over 1.5 of those days.

The rest is social stuff and activities for attendees that it’d make no sense to stream and would not be practical to do so.

A huge part of the World Tour is celebrating these events and making sure they retain their flavour and their sense of what makes the unique. EDU have done a great job with their streaming efforts in the past, so we felt it was best to keep to tradition so the event still feels like EDU.

A quick note on the performance, it does look like there is increased CPU usage with this version of wine under linux. I hope to be able to find ways to improve that although I remind people that this is a spare time project for me so I’ll do what I can but I can’t promise anything.

Despite that, it looks like this build is very stable across a wide range of distros and so I’ve elected to push it to release (happened yesterday) and make it the default wine because the old wines will certainly break once we push a 64bit client.

I’m choosing a performance hit over a crash for people who just want a plug and play experience. Anyone who needs high performance may need to look into a custom tuned wine, at least in the short term.

This is an in character description because it’s included within the in game environment and needs to make sense in backstory terms.

Question for CCP! Are you try to kill EVE?

No.

That pretty much takes care of this thread.

Closed.

If this is the black cubes in space, it’s a shader problem with gas clouds rather than a texture problem I think. I might try pushing the linux dev build even further upstream and see what happens to this. Science!

Announcements forthcoming, but the results from our 2nd mass test looked pretty good and initial public Mac 64 usage is returning helpful data. The ball is rolling!

Thank you all for your comments and contributions here. It’s super helpful to have a vocal user base and really great to show engagement to the decision makers.

Hi! The 2 million skill points have been added now to 500 characters on Singularity. Thanks for participating!

According to our crash reporting system slightly more than 40 clients crashed during the mass test and nearly all of those crashes are audio related, which are now being investigated further.

This feature will be release in May, with the list of pointers listed in the original post (it has been updated since I first posted it).
Please test it out and report it if you find any bugs so we can fix them before release
