This is fixed!

Bug Fix: Fixed an issue that prevented the Mad King Says Halloween event from starting on its normal schedule in Lion's Arch.

Update! We found the issue and it's a pretty quick fix, so we're testing it and preparing to get it live as soon as we can. Mad King Thorn will be yelling commands at you in LA before you know it.

Do you really want a surprise gift from something this closely related to the Mad King? That would not end well for anyone.

We're aware of this (since a bunch of us were logged in waiting for it too 😄 ) and we're looking into it!

This is more an issue of "This text needed to be clearer" than an attempt to trick people into crafting something, but we are planning to update the text!

To make sure I'm flagging the right issue: Did you receive the item after you purchased it, and double-click it to consume it?

This is an issue with resetting the achievement progress from last year--if you fully completed the achievement last year you got credit for it this year.

I just did a quick check on this--it needs to be someone else's homestead, not your own. You do not necessarily have to say "trick or treat" to the homestead owner unless you want to. 😉

Bug Fixes: Fixed an issue that prevented the Ancient Bell and Haunted Bell from being removable once placed in a homestead or guild hall. Fixed an issue that prevented the Decorated Casket and Eternal Flame homestead decorations from being visible in the crafting list after being unlocked.
