Additionally a serious bug means offline progression is not properly serialized. Please play online solo for now until we resolve this. Sorry!

We are working on this. It might involve some dramatic changes to the talent itself

This first week is really going to be focused on serious bug fixes for missions, performance, and connectivity. Because of the speed we need to work for that, new features gets bumped a little. So sadly no eta but definitely not this week so we can allow fixes to get out fast

Side note, it seems one of the devs likes to respond to posts on this sub so that's nice. But I feel like more people just find the Icarus sub because that's what they type in. Only reason I found this sub was a cross post from the other sub.

We respond in both, these are your communities and we have no right to police or control them. I forbid our staff from being moderators here - they are your communities we are just here to talk to you, you get to control how they run

There's a lot I really like here, its late and I need to sleep so I'll unpack it all later. But I absolutely love the lootables idea. I'm going to discuss it tomorrow. I'll reply more later after I've had a sleep.

(EDIT: I hope this didnt come across as rude, it was a great topic and I was just excited to discuss the history F2P and our design!)

The design as a F2P game was never started.

The session based nature is something I want to explore, as a game developer, rather than just doing what everyone else is. I wanted to explore reasons for players to build and ways to recreate experiences again and again. We simply can't support high fidelity game spaces over lengthy periods of time - as performance would tank. This is why games like Ark and RUST have to do regular wipes.

Time will tell if this is a good idea, but F2P was scrapped because of many reasons one of which it was maybe going to impact design. In fact, the designers and the whole team have been consistently forbidden to even discuss monetization in any meetings at all, for any consideration with the game development, whatsoever.

The latest updates should have increased the timeout that is causing this to occur. This error (which is badly named 028 - we will fix that and provide something more descriptive) occurs due to a communication problem with the person "hosting" the session. it means "I lost connection with the host", usually because the host shut the game down, or crashed. But it can be because:

  1. The host is sending messages, and some of them are getting lost (or delayed). Commonly referred to as "packet loss".
  2. There is enough delay, especially for important messages that say "connection exists" that the host isn't there.

We will continue to work on fixing this, it is affecting some other users just like yourself and its intensely frustrating. The increased timeouts should help some users, giving their connections more leniency. There is a limit to this, before other problems arise and would make the session unplayable at best.

One mitigation that might h...

Understood. Regardless we will be doing a lot more optimisation work. Thank you so much for trying the game out and sticking with us despite the bugs

Can you try updating the game? We pushed an update that should fix this. Hopefully does! You need to right click to remove wires

Are you running it in DX11? Also set shadow cascades to 1

It’s been deployed now, sorry for the trouble. Please apologise to your friends, we will keep working on updates until the game is what it should be

Roger - sorry. we have another update coming in.

on both icarus.exe and Icarus-Win64-Shipping.exeRight click on .exe and I unchecked*deactivate full screen optimization*run as adminand in the Modify High resolution parameters button (windows is in french sry for translation)uncheck the second checkbox related to dpi scallingWhen I use the Icarus-Win64-Shipping.exe directly, same infinite connectivity issue, but when using the desktop steam created icon, all works fine and I am connected now.

Edit: Note it says *uncheck* not check.

Are you running the game from a shortcut on your desktop? Or through steam? If you could make sure you're running it through steam, with steam online and let me know!

Understood. We have an update coming today, and more planned. Really sorry for the rough launch - that's on us. We're going to work as hard as we can to ensure everyone gets the experience on Icarus they deserve.

Well done, that second mission was pretty off putting to a lot of folk because of the spawns. Glad to see you having such an active hand in things. Also, unrelated, but I saw your response to a lot of steam reviews asking about dx11 performance vs 12. On my end, with a 3080, I don’t use raytracing so 11 works immensely smoother.

Yes - we found *massive* issues with DX12 performance in some circumstances. Will be trying to get these fixes deployed ASAP. Im really sorry that you had these problems, we're going to work as hard as we can to fix them. It's on us and we are going to work hard.
