Still mind blown riot created a problem where none existed with gwen. If her gameplay was as problematic as riot said it was pre rework, then why wasn't that reflected anywhere in her pick, ban or winrate? If I recall correctly she was strictly overpowered in the jungle when played by mains. that was all.
It quite literally just feels like they did the opposite of making her less "problematic" seeing as we are now onto her 3rd nerf in a row, the highest ban rate shes ever been, as well as still perma picked in pro. At what point do we just bite the bullet and revert? if the players didnt find her problematic before, why did riot?
Its just sad watching them force changes with spotty rationale, and the champ suffers as a result.
We think Gwen is a champion with a very resonant thematic, and think it's worth the fine tuning to get her balance in the right spot.
Additionally, we like that she adds another melee AP into the meta that can act as a natural release valve for certain types of top laners that allow her to scale freely.
She opens up a lot of comp flexibility in a way that Rumble, Kennen, Aurora, etc. do not.
As with any multi-role champ, it's a bit tough to land the balance, especially since her levers aren't particularly easy to forecast, but we think attempting to strike that balance is worth it.
nice
this was my dream when I made Hollow Radiance
Read morein some regions
Which one that must be I wonder...
Europe in this particular case
Okay, good to know this
but could you clarify for me whether this change will affect names in all regions or not?
Will have to follow up, I’m not sure (this just cropped up on my radar today. This is a European compliance thing, so affects a lot of languages which makes things more complicated. We’re also looking exactly what does and doesn’t need to change in more detail and whether changes on PBE might be more than necessary
First they came for Graves' cigar, now they are coming for Gragas' drink?!
For context this one's an age ratings compliance thing in some regions, not something we're changing for any other reason. We're not looking to change anything about Gragas as character (who he is, how he acts, what he does etc). The use of the word "drunken" specifically has been flagged though
appreciate the answer, thanks! one last question, will the last champ of he year be like yunara and come during or in the middle of the season or will they be like mel and come relatively at the start? otherwise, i look forward to the reveals and stuff in the spirit blossom season
More like the middle of the third season than the start
Was K'sante able to get back into combat?
Or would they both retire in Brazil?
Yeah K'sante teleported back to where he started after like 10s, the enemy was left to rot. No idea why lmao
1 balancing of items/runes like hubris/dark harvest?
2 was 6v6 considered? being more chaotic and personally really miss that hexakill announcement
3 will there be bans?
4 was 200haste summoners spells cd on aram testing for this? and if mark/dash and smite are available
5 why it was bandle city themed and not ionia themed? (thought it would be like arena, ionia first then later reskinned to be bandle to be more general
6 why water on one side only instead of a river down the middle like this? (qiyana question
7 is the recall empowered/baron ver? else just walking back to base seems more practical most of the time
8 cannon minion not worth more points?
9 cappa juice available?
10 will little legends show up like in aram? potentially even helping in battle like the SR jungle pets?
TURBO QUESTION TIME:
We'll be tackling scaling runes/items by speeding them up like other modes where necessary. Same with items that are way better in fast teamfight fiestas.
We tried a few different team sizes, but since it was Thunderdome we fast fast failed them to find what was most fun. 5 Players keeps things from being too chaotic on a small map, 4 wasn't fun when we tested it but maybe with a smaller map it could've been sick.
No bans right now, we wanted to optimize heavily for fast queues and being able to pick what you want. There's a world where we could add bans into quickplay style queues or similar, but nothing right now.
We have some summoner haste, but might want more... 👀 as for snowball we didn't think Melees needed the help as much on the mode with the way the map is designed. Also it helps stand a bit further from ARAM so that each can find its own audience.
Artists are probs bette...
I'm late to the party but questions:
1 is atakhan sticking around the whole year?
2 you said before we would see classic sr again this year, i assume that's still happening a bit later?
3 which of the three season is your personal fav?
1 - yes, at a minimum Atakhan should be around for the rest of the year at least. If we did want to remove him entirely at some point would want to do so at the start of a year if possible given removing an epic objective entirely is pretty significant adjustment to make during the year from a competitive impact perspective
2 - yes, still planning some standard SR visuals at some point during the year
3 - I’m pretty torn. Maybe season 3 for certain elements in particular but there are aspects of each I really like in different ways
I feel like it's going to hinder the game mode's longevity if there are no bans, which will lead to data showing people dropped off playing as the 3 patches go by, and then we will never see the game mode again.
What guarantee do we have that some champs will not just be obscene in the game mode, where it's almost expected to see the same rotation of 5-10 champs in every game? ARAM gets around this because it's somewhat randomized at least. Every other game mode that doesn't have bans suffers from people losing enjoyment because inevitably there is a meta formed and certain champs can't be blocked.
It just seems super counter intuitive to say that the mode is for people to have fun and play the champ they want without giving them a way to ban one of the near-170 champs that exist that would hinder their enjoyment.
Totally possible! We'll be watching closely and learning the kinds of things we might need. No bans was less of an explicit desire, but something we accepted to hit other goals and get it out to y'all.
As for champ balance - goal is definitely to prune down topend champions so it doesn't feel like there's some true menace that destroys the mode.

Sona will be broken on release with her kit and accelerated gameplay
I'm convinced with 100% certainty that your team will miss the mark.
Please prove me wrong!
Sona is one of the champions we're considering preemptive balance on. We're also quite sure we won't get everything correct on release, but we're also confident that the mode is already fun and we can improve it with further changes. Please look forward to it :)
Can we accumulate champion mastery in this mode just like in the arena? I hope so because otherwise it feels like a wasted game.
Yes, we made sure that champion mastery is enabled in this mode!
Have you considered less players for the mode? It might be more fun with a team of 3 rather than sticking to the traditional team of 5
We briefly tested 4v4 but it was clearly a downgrade. Reducing the number of players made the game more methodical and strategic, which was an anti-goal for this specific mode.
Will we be able to gain mastery points and S grades on this mode?
Yes!
Big fan of Baccano! and Samurai Champloo. I'm also contractually obligated to state that u/Riot_Cadmus is wrong and FMA '03 is better.
It's okay to be wrong, u/AzuBK :D
How much of Arena in Smite have you guys played? Someone said Brawl was like that and I got SUPER excited.
The only thing that's taken time away from me playing league well over a decade is Arena in Smite.
I remember playing a little bit ages ago, I liked that the camera was different from League. :D
But I never went past a dozen hours and stuck with League in the end.
What are some of your guys favorite anime or recommendations? I know riot phlox favorite is death note.
