Not sure if you know this (so maybe I'm whooshing here), but the person who posted the original version of this meme (/u/SpanglishFran) is the Arena dev who worked on the Sparky AI. Turning his own meme against his lovely creation is a pretty delicious turn of events. Bolas is pleased.

It was about the compound-ness of the trigger, which was supported for 'intervening if' like [[Prized Amalgam]] but not simple 'resolution-time ifs'. #wotc_staff

This one was !FUN!. Consider Opalescence and TTT any other enchantment. It's not a creature until it's on the battlefield- which means it enters as a creature. However, by the time it's on the battlefield (which is when it's a creature), it's too late for it to enter with a +1/+1 counter on it. Because, you know, Winding Constrictor.

In the end, the AI is basically like: "Yeeeaaah, I think I know what you're looking for." and just makes something up.

I did make a non-magic one for April Fool's on my Twitter: https://twitter.com/FOMartin/status/1112967393066639361

Hey! Nice meme template. I also wanted to complement you on the AI work for sparky. During discussions about integrating a practice AI for this game, I had theorized that the difficulty of the AI would need to intentionally be lower than a human opponent such that while it still presents a decent challenge for the player, it would be easy enough to remain approachable for beginners. What were your thoughts when designing the systems for sparky? Did you want to make it as close to a human opponent as possible? Or were there any exploitable mechanics intentionally left in to lower the difficulty?

Thanks! You are right that the philosophy is to have it be on the same level of a new player coming out of the tutorial, so we definitely skewed towards that. In fact, we gave opportunities for Sparky to "mess up", especially during combat. This is because new players are very protective of their creatures. Even if a win is a few turns away with a few creatures dying during combat, many new players would still hold back to keep their creatures alive. We took this into account when designing Sparky. Other than that, most difficulty came from the decks Sparky pilots. By neutering her decks, we could have Sparky be better for new players, but still make the "best" plays given her deck.

I made this unofficially, but I do work for WotC. So in a way... kinda?

Thanks for this OP; was a fun minor heart attack when I saw it yesterday morning: “I thought all the codes were getting announced during the broadcast? I don’t even remember this code; what the hell is .... ohhhh. Nice. Nice. Good Game.”

I'm probs going to do it when we get the non-promo version. The watermark makes it to tricky to change it and make it look good.

Before people freak out; you can use any version of a card as long as one version is legal in that format, so as long as a card is reprinted, any old style will also be usable.

Has this been confirmed? I asked about this on the MTGA forum once and the only reply I got was from someone who said that was still unclear. That was last week, before the update, though.

Yes, it works this way. From the cosmetics FAQ (https://forums.mtgarena.com/forums/threads/53744):

HOW WILL CARD STYLES WORK WITH ROTATION?

After the fall set rotation, you will have ways to continue to play with all the cards in your collection. This includes using any card styles those cards may have.

Additionally, if a card is legal in a particular format you will have the option to use any card that has the same name as it regardless of the illustration. Card styles for the older versions of cards reprinted with new illustrations will still function if you’re using the older version of the card in your deck.

For example, once Core Set 2019 and Rivals of Ixalan rotate out of Standard, you will still be able to use your copies of ...
