Hey all. Since this thread appeared I've been able to get some answers about the situation. I don't want this to be construed as any sort of smackdown. I genuinely believe there's some sort of misunderstanding, and I've asked that we get in touch with Rodolfo.

I don't think I need to delve too deep into the nitty gritty, but the key things to note are:

In-terms of in-game music, we discovered back in 2018 that we could use MIDI files from a RS3 back-up (the same 2012 one we've used for Soul Wars) in Old School. We took the tracks Vanescula, Bloodbath, Conspiracy, and Bait for the release of A Taste of Hope. Some minor modifications were needed since those tracks use instruments which don't exist in Old School, but the modifications were done by a member of the Old School team. Does that mean the pet with flying toggled is going to have its current sitting stance, and only fly when the player is moving?

I think it was more of just when the player was standing still the pet was jittering and glitching out as it was trying to fly. The flying morph is still expected to fly in place when a player is idle. Hope that helps!

To be clear, I have no opinion on the change itself. Doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is the polling methodology - when OSRS released it was made abundantly clear that no updates would occur without a 75% approval rate. What's changed? This seems to be a deviation from the core beliefs that has led to the success of OSRS so far. Maybe I've missed something.

Unfortunately the poll results on the website don't factor in the skip votes (we tried fixing it once but it broke the website). If you check the poll results via the poll booth in-game you will see all of the vanguard changes did in fact pass with over 75% of the votes.

We had some issues with it's ready animation (as in when the player is standing still and it's not flying) hoping to iron those out with the graphics team as soon as possible and put them back into QA for testing.

That one hasn't been done with this week's game update but it is currently being developed now so fingers crossed!
