Thanks for the insight, I didn’t know a lot of that.

Right now, I know that there’s a ton of skepticism when about the validity of the “manual review” label, (people just assume it’s bull) which leads to a lot of frustration. Is there anything you can say as to what aspects of an account lead it to be more likely to get manually tagged as a bot, even when it’s not? i. e. frequent trades, total level, xp gain, etc?

Getting tagged manually as a bot by mistake could be a number of things including incorrect labeling by a member of the team etc, unfortunately as much as I'd love to talk about botting and what flags accounts in the first place, that's something we won't do I'm afraid.

Let me make sure I understand the process.

  • The system automatically bans.

  • A random daily sample gets checked.

  • If your account is not part of this daily sample, you are permanently banned with no appeal process.

  • The system bans very blatant (to how a system can determine) bots (mass created gold farmers etc)
  • The system flags other more bespoke/intelligent bots for manual review
  • Flagged accounts are checked by an Anti Cheating Specialist
  • Accounts are reviewed daily by Team Leads for accuracy
  • Accounts can be appealed if compromised by third-parties via this link

Can slayer partner be changed and made useful

What would make it useful without also making it abusable via exacerbated points/XP gain?

After the success of the farming guild, is the rework of other guilds in the pipeline for future work? It could be a great piece of content that if revived properly, and to community satisfaction, would have a very rewarding impact. Similar to have the farming guild has three tiers that pushes players to continue to level up their skill for all access to the guild.

What content would you want to see added to the guilds?

We've spoken about it in recent Q&As. We're looking to poll some Sire questions soon, and then I think we'll be looking at Grotesque Guardians.

What is the reasoning for not already having fist of guthix? the rewards are not necessarily needed and they could be made into reality with communitys help.

It wouldn't be as simple as copy and pasting a minigame from RS3 to OSRS. We've seen the state of multiple minigames which lack enthralling rewards (they aren't very active) and I think the same would be said for FoG.

Can you make rune pouch buyable with coins from the bh shop meanwhile you work on bounty hunter rework? Like 500k would be a suitable price I think.

Currently only way to get a rune pouch is through slayer or with existing bounty hunter points. Does not feel great to be stuck not using your only rune pouch in pvp for this long.

There's something in the works for Rune pouches for the duration of the beta. Blog coming imminently.

Can the Trouble Brewing be looked at?

Currently the red teams side is much worse than the blue teams side. Can the sides be mirrored, or something similar to Castle Wars, so there are no difference if you're on either teams. It makes no sense, that one teams base-layout is better than the others.

Solid shout here.

Botting could be solved by making a bot's gp worthless AFTER it has been RWTed. This would make buyers stop using RWTing services. What would be the challenges you could face in implementing this?

I think you need to further explain the idea. How could gp suddenly become worthless? Would that not just be banning the account and removing the gp?

Fishing Trawler is not fun. Please change each 'trawl' to a maximum of 3 minutes and reduce the chance of a skilling item to 1/4. Investing 20/40+hrs of literally standing still clicking a wall for next to no xp feels like an unnecessary time-sink when I could be playing more interesting areas of the game. Thanks.

I wouldn't be averse to reducing the length of time each trawl takes, but I'd prefer to separate that from any change in the droprate of the angler's outfit.

The player was unbanned. Other associated players were unbanned. Feedback was given to the anti-cheating specialist was responsible. Mod Tyran talks about the issue in more detail here: https://old.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/dlhzok/why_shouldnt_evscape_get_a_faster_recovery_than/f4qk34l/

Would you like to see it? Would a new Slayer master be introduced, or would Vannaka be repurposed? Would we add existing P2P NPCs to F2P?

Agreed. That’s the double edged sword with automated systems that’s get rid of obvious bots is that real players get hit from time to time.

It's human error that acts as a double edged sword - even though we use very few of them, automated bans are actually very accurate (much more so than human) but they are fed from human learning to help improve and make them effective, otherwise they would be wildly inaccurate and flag entire swaths of innocent users, or be very niche and therefore not effective in aiding to take out mass amount of bots (contrary to popular belief, we do ban over 15,000 bots per day in OSRS - mostly made up of 'suicide bots' created to generate a small amount of wealth and trade it off as quickly as possible). Whilst the automated system does ban a number of accounts, these are from heuristics built by the team and are only made live after vigorous checks. When they do eventually get made live, they are very restrictive on what type of account they look for and are reviewed frequently. The vast majority of accounts are all checked by members of staff - hence where human error unfortunately comes in...
