Yep! Tl;dr is we overlooked it at the design stage and therefore didn’t include it in the poll question. Because it wasn’t in there, we didn’t do it. Since it was an oversight, we’ve added it to the backlog for future consideration.

With the spice rack, it just holds the spices that you catch right? Or does it mean you can get unlimited spices from there without fighting rats?

You have to obtain the spices yourself which you can then store in the rack.

Hey love the Wiki integration, such a great step!

However, if an entity is far away you will start running towards it, aswell if you can't reach it, you can't "look it up" if it is at a bit longer distance. This is possible through runelite etc.

Is it intended this way?

To add to Gambit's comment, we have various 'triggers' we can use in RuneScript, for NPCs and Scenery there is two main types:

  • Ops - Up close, such as attacking with melee, talking to.
  • Aps - Attacking with range, or interactions from a distance up to 10.

There is a third type of trigger, which we only have for Players, Clicks - this was added for us with the Deadman Spectator tool set originally, but has since been used for the 'Report' function on players etc.

All in all, 3 types, 'ops', 'aps' and 'clicks', we don't have clicks on NPCs or Scenery (trees, walls, doors, etc).

We'd very much like clicks for both NPCs and Scenery as it'd be useful for other things too :), it's just a matter of priority for the engine team who are focused on Clan Support, some additional things we need for the next League, etc, but can get smaller requests like this every now and then.

Add other builds to LMS. It would be a perfect intro to pvp if there were more beginner-friendly formats than nh tribridding

Agreed - we have some builds ready and plan to do this when we’re able.

Thanks for bringing it up. We’ve done a brief diagnosis of the cause but at present it is a tricky fix that is not as simple as just “remove boss hiscores”. We’re aware of the issue and have raised it with the corresponding teams as it is not something the web team have any control over.

I appreciate this might appear as us brushing it under the carpet or throwing it over the proverbial web team wall but I can assure it is not. I’ve actually discussed it today with our department manager so we really are not ignoring it. Equally there is also a lot of work for these teams to complete. A lot of these resources rightly or wrongly are shared between RS and OS and the engine guys as legendary as they are need to prioritise their work.

That being said Jagex are hiring so if you want to help bolster the team we do encourage you to apply!

I'll ask the rest of the team to get their thoughts, but I suspect this is because we aren't looking to buff Master Farmers in that way.

If it's profitable enough, I think they would. If it's not, then I don't think regular players would be keen to play.

How about some kind of ELO system? I don't play anymore but when I did I wanted to get in to PVP but I'd much rather go against someone that sucked as much as I do.

I understand from the dev who ran into similar design issues for PvP in RS3 that ELO is not the silver bullet we're hoping for. ELO can still be boosted/manipulated/sold so it can't be attached to any reward system. In games like League it's not a problem because your ELO is the primary 'currency'. But in OSRS, it would run alongside the GP economy which will always be more important to some players. Hence the incentive to sell ELO points etc.

Why not doing a ep system for bh like before? If they attempt to boost atleast regular pkers with high ep can hunt them hopefully forcing them out. Also high ep boosting was never a forsure good drop and not guaranteed money like bh2 and 2. Plus maybe can be modified drops if kill someone on same ip?

If it's boostable in any way, I suspect we'll eventually run into the same problem.

That's a very specific question. The nature of our relationship with the Wiki team didn't have to change in order for this to happen. We would have done it sooner, but the team responsible have been busy with improvements to the opening game experience.

As it stands right now, there's this constant cycle where PKers complain about the Wilderness being dead, content is added to the wilderness designed to lure non-PKers to the Wilderness, then said content dies because nobody wants to be killed by random PKers. The PKers aren't happy because this hasn't provided any long term benefit, and nobody else is happy and cry about it on reddit. All this does is turn the community against each other, and the current state of PvP is the result of that. Based on the polls, there's at least a solid 15% of the voting playerbase that actively votes no to every PvP update. That's not a problem, that's a symptom of the problem. The fact that there's a significant portion of the playerbase that f...

There's a conflict of interest when it comes to the polls for sure. In terms of matching players based on skill, that's not easily done. ELO can still be boosted/sold. But I agree with the sentiment.

Stops the killing pures for like 50k loot problem as well.

Doesn't force players who have no interest in bridding to do so (lms) and guarantees loot for killing another player while also removing gp from the game, while keeping the playing field level, like lms. I love bridding, but obviously the edge style pking is the most popular among the community. Minimize risk, incentives for managing to kill another player. A simple coffer system would do, stepping into the portal/door/whatever deducts the cost of entry, kills add the coins to your coffer. Also stops the problem of dealing with loote...

I like the concept - that's a nice starting point to design from. My would be that it's not very enticing for new PKers who would lose a lot of GP initially. Maybe this could be fixed with an option to pay a lower fee. Obvious the reward you get for a kill would be reduced accordingly. One other problem is that replacing drops with pure GP might not feel as exciting or capture the essence of PvP in the way we're hoping to.
