It’s possible…however.

Part of my being more active and present here is to encourage folks to engage with us in a more constructive way. Through consistent posting, and answering of relevant questions, my goal is to shift the conversation away from hyperbole and to demonstrate that constructive criticism and dialog creates space for us to engage in conversation with y’all in ways that are additive and beneficial.

It’s completely understandable that folks have been frustrated by the gaps in communication. The current state of the boards is our responsibility. If we want for it to be a useful communication tool I need to put in the hours with all of you ...

We will occasionally try new mediums, especially if we believe they don’t present a lot of risk to do so at the time. Twitter Spaces is an feature that other teams within Blizzard have been testing, and we felt we could benefit from a similar execution.

We’ll still host events like AMAs and livestream Q&As. This was just something new and different.

Regarding the audio playback: I believe we get an archi...

Not me this time, ProtoIV stepped up. I am too busy writing the NFL football schedule for my “paid” job so I couldn’t join in on the session today.

Avian, would you be so kind to update your link to the following YouTube link. ProtoIV was able to do a recording of the whole broadcast. That way we can keep everything on one discussion thread.

I do know from my conversations with Geoff and Josh that we’re not looking to increase healing right now though, and it makes sense to use the test environment to establish new baselines to work against.

Caveat: I’m not a designer.

I’ve been following this thread since it popped up last night. I sat down with the hero design and balance team this morning to talk about why we’re testing this change:

Josh Noh: this goes back to what we discussed previously: with a change to 5v5, heals were just too effective in combat due to the fact that Tanks in general provide more damage than what they mitigate.

Another possible approach would be individually nerfing each support Hero’s healing output, which could result in out of combat healing taking significantly longer. Because we’re still in internal testing, we could take this more broad sweeping approach, which helps us more quickly establish new baselines for individual support Heroes.

I do want to caveat: this is only a test change, and per Lead Hero Designer, Geoff Goodman it’s “unlikely to make it through to the live game, as it is now”.

Catch up with Thomas, a senior level designer on the Overwatch team, to discuss the newest Deathmatch map: Malevento.

If you can, try to avoid comparing the damage numbers you saw on OWL stream with what you see in retail.

It’s all relative.

We’re seeing what we can do to get the rest of the footage out in the wild.

From the Hero balance and design folks:

Geoff G: We decided to add both a duration and a cooldown to the new Turret mode to allow us to keep the ability tuned to have a high damage output, while still taking into account his newfound mobility.

Checked in with Hero balance and design on this to make sure:

Geoff G: Like Doomfist’s Meteor Strike, Bastions new ult, Configuration: Artillery, ignores ceilings. Rooms may not provide safe cover.

Just to manage expectations: that’s not something I would reveal here on the forum.

The build we’re playing on for our daily playtests is close to what you saw on stream. A lot of the changes that have been mentioned, like the double Zarya shield pool and adjusted barrier values, were present and seen in the exhibition match.

That shouldn’t be taken as any indication of where we are vis-a-vis hero reworks. There are plenty of smaller playtests focused on testing other changes that haven’t made it into the main playtest build. Just as there are stages of public development and testing (like the ex...
