Waste of development time imo, how many people actually race? You have no chance of winning unless you put in hundreds of hours of practice.
I don't want racing seasons personally at all. They are fun to watch on twitch when people self organize them but I would never participate in a race.
The thing I particularly like about races, outside of it being a great way for groups of people to engage with Path of Exile content in the form of spectating and set up etc, is that they're a great way to hone your skills and improve your Path of Exile knowledge. It's also a cool small thing to engage with if you're kind of in the mood to play Path of Exile but not for a long session.
Have you all looked into allowing larger private leagues? GGG official races would be amazing, but larger private leagues for community races would be a great compromise.

I know. I have been a big advocate for this internally on many occasions. As you saw after the ExileCon event, Chris mentioned that he was really keen to see racing make a comeback this year. We started making plans in that direction and then 2020 unfolded and well here we are. The WFH stuff means that we are being extra careful about "extracurricular" development to make sure we can hit our deadlines and keep Path of Exile 2 moving forward in the background. As soon as it's feasible to dedicate development time to it, you can trust that I'll be pushing for racing's return.
We don't really have any plans for this right now - neither to bring it back or completely cancel it. I'd like to see it again but it's mostly an issue of the people involved having enough time to make it happen. (Or finding other people to do it).
I think she means as an apparition, not a pet or a reskin of your character.

Interestingly, Oshabi was originally concepted as a microtransaction (an amulet effect) and then repurposed for the league concept. The amulet effect was part of a set of other microtransactions so you might see them at some point.
