Not if long before the assignment was submitted you made it clear that certain things (in this case the Operators) were going to be reused. As was the case here as it has always been clear that Extraction would be using the Operators from Siege.

Yet the community seems to be completely taken aback that the same Operators have been used.

The community created this expectation themselves for some reason despite the initial teaser from E3 clearly only featuring Siege Ops.

It's all just data, I can't imagine anyone with the know how would have trouble copying some data via SQL. If the data is incompatible that's because the game was created without compatibility in mind which isn't just an assumption, it would've had to have been a very deliberate decision seeing as animations, sounds, etc... All seem to have been taken straight from Siege.

Game Level Code and Account Level Code are two very different things.

Yes the two games are made using the same base engine in Anvil but you cannot underestimate the complexity of trying to adapt modern things like Crossplay and Cross Progression to a 6 year old game and these things have nothing to do with assets, animations etc.

I would recommend listening to the recent episode of the Hot Breach Podcast where 2 of the Siege team members explain how much Account security has made it very difficult for them to implement a Streamer Mode in Siege among many other things. Complexity is why it's taking longer to implement the Console Crossplay in Siege as well.

I cannot stress enough that unless a game is built from the ground up with these things in mind from Day 1, it's really difficult to implement them after the fact. It's never as simple as we think.

Hey.

For 2 separate games to have cross inventories BOTH of those games would have had to have been originally designed with that feature in mind from day 1.

When Siege was released in 2015 the concept of Crossplay and Cross Progression was merely just that, a concept.

You cannot just magically wave a wand and have 2 games, released 6 years apart have a cross inventory function.

I also feel you are upset based on the assumption that you will need to pay for a skin that’s similar to one in Siege.

There is a famous saying about what happens when you make assumptions.

Thanks a million :) AJ

Hey!

The Vigil skin/charm is a reward for Rainbow Six Extraction and not Siege but you earn it by playing Siege.

You will need to contact Customer Support if you feel you are missing a Reward Containment Pack.

Thanks a million 🙂

Hey!

Rainbow Six Extraction is a purely PvE game. The Containment event in Rainbow Six Siege is merely inspired by Rainbow Six Extraction. They are two completely separate things.

Thanks a million 🙂

Hey!

“Ubisoft recently announced that the launch of this title has been moved out to January 2022. If you have pre-ordered the game on PlayStation or Microsoft platforms then your order has been automatically cancelled, and you will need to re-order Rainbow Six Extraction once the game is available on those platforms again.

It would only be if you bought your one from one of their digital stores. If you bought retail it would be a different story. You’d need to open a support ticket with one of them.

I have a question, since console got refunded due to the change in date can pc also get a refund?

This refund for consoles is a Sony/Microsoft only process so it will not affect PC versions

As I said the exact same day the game was originally, NEVER SAY NEVER but yes January should be the final date

Hey!

I can say with certainty that Castle was not confirmed in any promotional art.

I can't say whether or not he'll be in the game but I will point you towards this video from CoreRoss which talks about reinforcements and Doors in Extraction which may make you feel differently about if Castle would be a good fit for Extraction.

Thanks for the detailed response!

Going in looking at it like a what if like Marvel Zombies or something does make it a lot less confusing.

So the main R6 is still counter terror then? Like uh Earth one Flash is Barry Allen and Earth 2 Flash is Jay Garrick, that kinda thing?

The comment from /u/UpComin which contains a link to answer from the recent AMA is the best response to that question I think.

Hey!

The Containment event in Siege will have been worked on for several months. It was always planned to release on the date it did and the delay to Extraction had zero baring on it. Your assumption is off base as Containment and Extraction have no bearing on one another even if Containment is totally inspired by Extraction.

Hey!

I'm pretty sure it's explained in Outbreak but essentially I believe Ash was first drafted in to assess what was going on in ToC as an expert. They had no idea what was was causing the issue and the possibility of biological terrorism couldn't be ruled out. It's Ash who asks Six to bring in some of Rainbow to tackle the outbreak and suggests recruiting the GIGN experts in Lion and Finka.

In Extraction a specialist branch in the form of REACT has been formed to deal with the situation.

I cannot argue that the Archaens don't feel out of place in a Rainbow Six game but it's been clarified that both Outbreak and Extraction are considered non-canon to the story of Siege and take place in an alternate universe/reality. Consider them "what-if?" scenarios.

I can say having played the entire game extensively that Extraction has more in common with the original 1998 Rainbow Six game than even Siege does. Suspend your disbelief on the Archaens and yo...

Rest assured the game will be back up for pre-order again in the not too distant future!
