This comic is just strip after strip dunking on the bizarre sacrifices of realism I had to make to get the game mechanics to function well. There are reasons for these things I swear!

Not that I don't love the comics.

Surely you don't mean pawn.

Pawn has been in the game lexicon since the beginning.

[Edit] I meant "game" in general, not Rimworld specifically. Playing pieces are often called pawns in other games.

The only way anyone found out about it was by decompiling and reading the code, though. The word never appears in the player-facing game text.

I agree, which is why the term "pawn" is not used in the game.

Also keep in mind all colonists are pawns, but not all pawns are colonists. Squirrels and scythers are also pawns. Pawn is a concept from the code; we use it because it's correctly general and it's only 4 letters.

This is one of the funniest bugs I've seen in a while. Not sure if we should fix it.

Or maybe change just add, "The image is rendered in crude scratch marks."

In fairness, I did the code and art and writing for this, so it's entirely my fault.

Real reason is because we rebalanced it and in order to make the damage not too concentrated (annihiliate one toe with 50 damage) and not to spread out (3 tiny scraches on 25 different body parts) dividing it 5 ways was the best balance. So the fiction became that it was 5 spikes. But - the art was done for a previous version and I didn't change it.
