From everyone at Facepunch, we'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! The Christmas Event is once again live! If you haven't been around for this before, here's what you can expect:

Every once in a while you will hear the sound of jingle bells. Run outside and look for a gift! Two gifts are spawned per player, in a radius of about 40m from where you are standing. Run up and bash it open to receive your Christmas presents. They come in three sizes: small, medium, and large. If you have enough small presents stashed, you can "trade up" to a medium or large. The contents of each present vary, but you'll find a mix of resources, weapons, and candy. We've also added wrapping paper allowing you to wrap up items as gifts to other players, perhaps sold in your vending machine...

Once again, you will be able to find Santa hats and reindeer antlers, both of which can be worn and provide a decent amount of protection. There’s also a lickable candy cane club... Read more

This month we have added the tech tree which will give you the choice of how you unlock your blueprints, this has also led to a huge update on item crafting recipes, tiers and the loot you will find in airdrops and heli/bradley crates.

This month's update brings horse stables to purchase your trusty steeds, a new telephone system you can add to your base or find public phones along the roads and at monuments, a Taxi module for vehicles along with changes to vehicle costs, crafting and balancing along with the usual improvements and fixes and a moustache ??

Once roughly every two in-game days, a candy hunt event will begin. You'll have 3 minutes to collect as many candies as you can. The top 3 players are given special loot bags as a reward. These candies and loot bags can be opened for various types of loot ranging from scrap all the way up to an M249!

If you don't make the podium, that's okay. The Candies you collect can be upgraded for better loot.

There are various items available to help you during your hunt. The Pumpkin Bucket will allow instant pickup of candies and the Scarecrow Wrap and will provide you with an advantage via Candy Vision.

We've also updated the Halloween loot tables from last years event and added a new item "Ghost Costume" (see above image), you'll be able to find these as rare drops from killing Scarecrow NPCs.

This Update brings an elevator for easy travel between floors of your base, A real life Rust chair that gives you an exclusive in game chair too, The Spacesuit skin for the Hazmat outfit, changes to roads and added trails as well as the usual balancing and optimisations.

Long gone are the days of having to roam the shores of the Rust island in hopes of finding a seaworthy vessel. You'll now be able to acquire a Rowboat or a RHIB at one of the three new fishing villages we've added to the game. Here's the run down:

• You'll now find 3 Fishing villages around the map varying in size.
  
  
• Boats are no longer procedurally spawned along the beach and ocean and instead can be purchased from the Boat vendor found at the Fishing villages, 250 for rowboat / 400 for RHIB.
  
  
• Fishing villages are safe zones and hostile action will result in a swift death.
  
  
• If you're unable to afford a rowboat, you can opt to purchase the blueprint for a Kayak & paddle which you can then craft yourself any time.
  
  
• You can also purchase each piece of scuba gear at the fishing village
