Skipping asset warmup is a known cause of crashes so yes, you really don't want to do it.

What you can do is enable the experimental 'Optimized Loading' setting found in the options menu. This will change asset warmup to use a faster loading method AND make it start as soon as you boot into Rust (meaning it will load while picking a server and even while in the queue).

If anyone comes here who is already skipping asset warmup - be warned that it could work fine for you for weeks or months and then suddenly start causing crashes all the time. So if you're skipping asset warmup and have suddenly started crashing... it's probably that!

You don't have enough RAM and don't have an SSD. Make sure you have 10GB or more of RAM, preferably 16GB. And get any SSD and put Rust on it, or preferably put both Windows and Rust on the SSD but that could be lots of work.

Can you make sure your Steam app is up to date on your iPhone?

For iOS they mentioned that the fix would not need an app update but would need some caches to refresh on the phone in order for it to take effect. I'm not sure how long exactly it will take but hopefully better before tomorrow.

Valve have just pushed a fix for their app so there shouldn't be any more issues with signing into Rust+ anymore. Confirmed it's all good on my Android phone.

Reached out to Valve about this. For now it looks like if, after the Steam app automatically opens, you close the Steam app and switch back to Rust+ and click login again then it will open normally and let you in.

Not recommended: Alternatively if that isn't working you can try disabling "Open supported links" for the Steam app in your Android settings.

Did you change the experimental Optimized Loading option to Full? If you did, can you try changing it to Partial or Off?

Phishing websites will try to mimic the Steam website as much as possible to try and fool people. This is usually easy to spot by double-checking the URL in your browser's address bar.

Real HDRP ended up running worse even though it's meant to be better for Unity.

Go into settings, switch to the experimental tab, then turn off optimized loading. It defaults to off already.

If you want faster loading still then you can try setting it to 'partial' instead of off which should avoid this crash, but wont be as fast.

Absolutely not - it wouldn't even help prevent cheaters because cheaters would just disable or spoof the functionality.
