We spent all night optimizing more but after talking to AWS, we learned our database (redis) can only handle 65,536 concurrent players (what we hit last night). So no optimizations matter yet. We are working on a queue system to let 65k ppl in until we remove this limitation.
We empathize. Everyone who has been graciously patient with us, please do the same to these Devs. Just because they're bigger doesn't mean they aren't human, too!

5/6 Rest assured though, we won't stop working on this until we are prepared for as much scale as possible, and we are doing everything we possibly can to make this smooth.
4/6 We wish we could just throw money at the problem and buy more servers but there are a lot of moving parts and scaling is an incredibly complicated issue that takes time.
3/6 Full transparency, we just hit 65k concurrent which we are really proud of. But going from 50k to 65k in 24 hours is not an easy task And going from 1k to 65k in a week is barely humanly possible.
2/6 Right now it is literally a race against time as we try to put out updates (with less testing than we would like) as we struggle to keep up with the increase in players.
1/6 Hey guys, we are really sorry about the repeated server issues. I know how frustrating it is (trust me, we are frustrated too). We are doing everything we possibly can to stay on top of things and the 4 of us are sleeping about 2-3 hours per night.
Note: any progress 'lost' will come back! This includes skins, items, xp, level, and rank! They're actually not lost, it's just a symptom of our current server situation.
We've smashed our previous peak concurrent player count which strained the servers once again!
The servers will be taken down temporarily for maintenance to push further optimizations.
This has been the most stressful but rewarding week of our lives, thanks for your patience!
If you are stuck queueing it's because we let people in too fast. Just quit the game and restart and you will get back in in the next 5-10 mins.

Sorry about the short notice! We didn't think numbers would get this high for another 2 hours. Normally our peak is at 1pm pacific time.
We are taking servers offline temporarily for the next hour. We are already hitting a new peak in concurrent players so we need to deploy an update to increase capacity.
