Patches released on Wednesday for NA come available on Thursday in EU. There is a base time-difference as the deployments go global.

As noted by @CorryBasler, it's easiest to sync up on a day where everything is up and available!

Matchmaker alteration is in and should be limiting to 3 DD max and 3 BB max as long as no player in the game has been in queue for longer than 25 seconds. That includes players that were in queue before you joined.

After the 25 second wait, the limit softens to 4 DD or 4 BB.

As to the accuracy, folks have noted that it's slightly more correct than it was, so it's a start. We'll be able to get data from the change and see what adjustments are further indicated.

Hello, Captains,

We'd like to clarify the situation with USS Black. Recently we issued a couple of contradicting replies regarding the future of this ship, and it created the impression that she would not be sold for coal as initially planned. This happened due to a simple human error, and we apologize for misinforming you. Here is our current plan on USS Black:

We're going to incrementally address her balance, as she is currently too strong, even considering the average skill of her owners;

When it's done we're going to make her available for purchase for coal;

Her balancing process will definitely take time, as we always try to apply incremental changes to the released ships. However, our intention is to make her available, and you will be able to follow the further updates on this process in Development Blog.

Thank you for your attention and patience!

High as an individual number? Sure, it's a big number. However, matches are wildly more complex than just being able to do X amount of damage. As you say, Battleships can do the kind of damage even when against a bow-in target. Broadside, it can outright kill a ship in a single strike.

Battleships can also fire every 30 seconds, which a CV might not be able to do. Some CV drivers live dangerously and go as far forward as possible so they can strike quickly, but it's very risky and depends on their flank holding.

Ultimately, it's easy to fall into that trap of "That sounds bad" without having the context or experience to put it in reference. This is why I suggest, even if only in Co-Op, for you to try a Tier 4 CV just to see what it can even do. Some folks, like @ArIskandirwere able to grasp the concepts innately and perform at an above-average level. Most, however, find the controls jarring.

In an example above you sp...

It's not a policy response, it's an Ahskance response. This is how I dissect and talk about mechanics/situations, and how I try to parce out things to avoid hyperbole. While I did join WG, I'm still me, and this is how I teach/inform.

In my years of explaining CV, I've found that many folks really haven't tried or experienced them. This is ok... people don't need to play and do everything in the game. However, it can leave folks with warped views on situations where folks remember the bad/outliers and then extropolate off of them.

---

Firstly, knowing you had a run-in with a Tier 6 CV and not a Tier 4 CV is helpful, because that's a different engagement entirely. Tier 4 CVs are weak as they're intended as training vehicles that won't last a player very long before they graduate to Tier 6.

So I went into a training room and tested Serov rocket strikes on a Texas. The highest strike I got was the first (unsaturated ...

The AP Bombs are delivered in a Dive Bomb format, although it shares some of the carpet bomb concept. Ultimately, I believe the partitioning of the drops to "upper half" and "lower half" means off-angled ships are more protected and likely to be missed by one or both pairs of drops. I assumed that was a counter-play concept being tested in regards to angling to the drop.

As to the Skip Bombs, you should always want to skip them. The angle is very flat, so the accuracy of the drop it increased with them skipping at low levels.

Also, dropping from range means taking less AA damage. While Tier 6 AA isn't very powerful, you can always be uptiered. Tier 7 and 8 AA will result in dead planes if you are consistently going for a first line direct drop.

We are always trying to build our playerbase. As a free-to-play game, however, it is quite hard. That being said, we've remained very stable for many years, which is an eternity in a free-to-play competitive market.

As for removing modes, that's ultimately a thing to be determined by the Devs that monitor the game's play patterns and health. Currently, there are no indications of changes to modes or time-limiting.

You are correct. If someone only wants to play Ranked, and Ranked is not available, then they may decide not to play. That is also true for players which have Ranked Out during the current split.

That being said, there are much more casual players which are interested in a variety of options at any given time. If Ranked is not available but they want to play, they can and do opt to play Random Battles, Co-Op, or Operations instead. So while it does not save the situation of the person wanting one ex...

So, I've looked into this. We don't currently have the technology built to allow us to automate server transfers. It'd be cool, but it doesn't exist for us :(

The previous server migration would have been done by hand, copy and pasting and collaborating with engineers to make sure X or Y stuff didn't break as a result of such a brute force method. While the previous server transfer option happened before my time, it's not a thing that we're looking to have to repeat without any kind of automated tool assistance.

TLDR: It'd be a great thing to have, but it's not a feature we've got active to offer right now :(

One of our CCs has a few friends over in Asia that play on the NA server. He's advocated for the change/abolition of the Time Gating for months. Unfortunately, it's just not something that we're able to do at this time.

I realize the idea of just waiting a few more minutes may feel small, but when it's thousands of people queue'ing every hour the resulting difference is massive. The addition of 15-30 seconds can be the difference between queue'ing up for one more game or not. If folks leave the queue, it gets longer. It's a self-defeating issue.

The addition of another queue in the form of Ranked has benefits and drawbacks. The benefit is allowing players to find a version of the game they want to play at that time. The drawback is the dilution of any other available queue are players as spread out further. The work-around solution that we are using is the time gate, which allows access to more play-types as the server popula...

I recall reading on the CC Discord that someone had mathed out her AP Bombs need 32mm of armor just to prime the fuse.

In general, she has a habit of overpenning cruisers, and I'm fairly sure that's intentional. She's specifically restrained in terms of damage dealing capability.

That's not to say it couldn't be altered later down the line after a few months of play data exists to use for balancing purposes, but for the moment it can be considered a gate to keep her Air Supremacy focused.

Ok, I found the stream bit where I remembered it being spoken about, but I guess I misremembered the topic. The recent EU stream from week before last is located at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1215603803

At 41:10 in MrConway speaks about the Black. He mentioned that it was announced that they wouldn't be bringing her back for at least 6 months. Evidently in that time they made further decisions not to return her.

So I suppose that's the latest word on the street. :(

If that ever changes, I'll definitely be happy to give details, though!

I'm quite sure the intention is to bring her back, but I don't think the method/timeline has been decided/finalized. I recall that being teased on an EU Stream recently.

[Edit/Update: Went back and reviewed the Stream and found my memory sucks~ MrConway stated that during the time she was off the shelf, further decisions were made not to bring her back. See Post #17]

In general, whenever stuff gets locked in then we want to announce it. The information is necessary for keeping the playerbase informed as well as hyping interest for a new thing.

The reality of Game Design is that you may never make a commitment or promise that you cannot meet. Players will always remember any failing or miscommunication, typically with screenshots and memes.

Because of this, no game design company can give all the information all the time. They work on stuff in the background, and when it's absol...

It was announced months ago. I did a Khabarovsk grind on stream so that I could get her before she was moved to avoid having to pay for her with Coal. The ETA was early 2022, though I don't think an exact date was given that I can remember.

The reason for the Time Window is to assist in the creation of Random Battle matches. During off-hours, the players available don't always fully populate queues which can lead to long waits and strange games. Softened matchmaker can change the number of shipclasses in a match, or simply short players on a match with a "Queue Dump".

It's an unfortunate necessity :(

This is not correct :\

1) AP Rockets merely Pen or shatter on Battleships. They are implemented in the game to be a citadel threat against same or lower tier Cruisers. While they can pen a DD if they strike armor at an angle, they are likely to Overpen a DD for minor damage, or merely pen a Battleship for minor damage (to a Battleship)

2) You are saying you "instantly killed" by "four passes" from a Soviet CV? As Soviet CVs only attack once per strike (it's their gimmick), the CV would have had to fly back to you 3 additional times to strike 3 additional times. That isn't instant.

Furthermore, why would you not have used heal in that time? or off-angled by 10-20 degrees to mitigate incoming damage? It's not about full turning against a Soviet rocket strike, a 10-20 degree offset can be quite significant.

Further again is the knowledge that Soviet CVs carry HE ammunition. After dealing damage and saturati...

As @Princess_Daystarhas mentioned, the Khaba is being made into a "Special Ship" and moved to the Armory for sale via Coal.

You can just sell your Khaba and get some credits back, because you'll receive the "Special Ship" version of her in a few weeks when 2022 rolls around. She'll be the same ship, but she'll have reduced Service Cost and an included Permacamo.

If you do sell her, be sure to first dismount any Upgrades you want to save!

Nope. Open-water conditions. It's a thing.

I believe a recently spotted/lit DD will correctly provide "Detected" even at max surface detect range. It could be something where the server obscures the location of an unknown/dark DD up to a point?

Either way, it's unique enough that I thought it adds flavor, even though it does put the CV at a disadvantage to some extent.
