Yes, this is correct~ The "roll" is constrained to the "Ships" category for the Santa Containers, so a "Guaranteed/Bad Luck Preventation" roll would be confinded to those remaining groups.

As such, the Roll Chance is simply down to the ratios between the groups, which you have mathed out correctly above.

May I borrow your writing to add to my post?

I've not heard any rumblings about altering the 100 Container limit.

While it may have originally occurred to deal with some specific problem, there's not any pressing need that I've heard of to spend coding/dev time to change it back.

Was there some reason having more than 100 Containers was important?

Not sure what you mean by "how they advertise it"? The Drop Mechanics have literally been published. They were released yesterday, which is why I can go into detail about the Ship Math breaks down.

I can make you a Paint Picture that gives the rough concept of "Group Selection". I woke up with back pain, so now that I'm up I'll see if I can gin something up real quick...

Not really. There's been a consistent anti-CV sentiment among higher-end players for years. Carriers can reveal deployments as well as threaten isolated positioning.

There was a Dev Blog posted earlier today about a Test involving spotting with CVs. Carriers are still being iterated on as we work to get them where they need to be on the whole.

Well, Subs are still in testing. They aren't really "available" in the game at present, as there are no tech-tree lines or premiums to "own". So, that's a definite Nope! in terms of KotS~

---

As for CVs, KotS used to have them until shortly after the CV Rework. They did a tourney with the Reworked Carriers, but it was during a time of heavy, heavy iteration. CVs were being changed drastically and competitive players requested CVs be witheld from the next tourney to avoid having to try and plan around unknown and constant balancing/changes. After that, the players voted to keep KotS as BB/CA/DD, and it has stayed that way since~

Dutch Cruisers are notably tanky, have airstrikes, nice concealment, and have great AA!

Their guns... are connected to the ship <3

---

The line isn't so gun-focused because the ships have power in other areas~

Just to let you know, the Daily Missions are purely about getting Base XP.

The first 3 Dailies are "Base XP" in general, and the other 3 are "Base XP from wins"

The Citadels/Fire/Incaps/etc... those are Combat Missions that pop up to give some different goals to strive for. It just helps add some variety while offering rewards for your effort~

Probably best to encourage people not to go hunting for rare ships when they're new. There are lots of unlockable, free ships that are great to play and strong in competitive environments.

Another new player had the same concern about low chances. Ultimately, those things shouldn't be important for new players to attain... they're new! There's a lot of game to play before they need to worry about finding buried treasure~

Actually, the Drop Mechanics have been outlined in the Dev Blog. The mechanics are based off of the previously announced system of how Crates/Boxes determine outcomes, which was released a while back as the method of labeling contents and drop rates was unveiled.

So you can no longer "Roll a ship you already have". That no longer exists.

A) Containers now dynamically roll for their outcome when they are opened. Previously, their contents were decided at Purchase, which allowed a player to have "repeat" ships as multiple containers could have rolled the same outcome.

B) When a ship is owned by the player, it is disabled from the possible loot table. The remaining ships in a group that are not owned are evenly weighted.

Example: A "ship group" has 20 ships in it, but the player owns 5 of them. If the player rolls that "ship group", then each of the 15 non-owned ships has a 1/15 c...

World of Warships is a niche game in its way, but it's just so darn good.

Decades in game-years are like the Elves from Lord of the Rings. It's FOREVER!

Still, this game's got magic enough to go a good long while~

Some XP grind was moved off of the Tier 4 CV, to help newer players finish working on thier Tier 4 CVs faster. That way they can move up to Tier 6 where the AA is stronger, but they can keep learning their CV line after having learned the basics in Tier 4.

The grind from Tier 8 to Tier 10 is quite large. It can be rough, but considering the grind needed for a Surface Ship going from Tier 8 to 9, and then up again to 10... it's rough, but doable.

If someone has supported this game to such a large extent to have ALL of the Tier 5-9 ships, then I don't think it's such an outlandish idea that they be able to work on collecting rare ships.

Something Boggzy said remains with me still. Other people purchase ships so that Free-to-Play folks don't have to. They're helping keep World of Warships alive and growing~

While you can look at this way, no ships are really outlandishly OP here. Yes, some folks will tell you X or Y ship is very powerful, but no ship is so strong as to singlehandedly win games or flanks.

Honestly, relax a bit and learn a few Tech Tree lines. They're free and they'll give you great training on how the game works and what you might want to specialize in. The tech tree ships and grindable-free premiums are the work horses of this game, both in Randoms and in Competitive.

Those were both removed, and we don't have any plans for them at the moment.

Santa Containers have long been a way of having removed or non-available ships come back during the Holidays, but as you can see the Drop Chances are quite small so it's unlikely to create a sudden surge in their population.

The Santa Containers have a variety of nice things, and tend to be quite generous in terms of what they provide. Hopefully you'll be pleased with what you get should you purchase any~

As for Tier X or bust... this game really doesn't quite work like that. World of Warships is very approachable, even in a bottom tier situation. Typically High Explosive shells threaten any ship in the match, and setting Fires are always a concern for any enemy player.

Tiers 6 through 8 are a fine place to enjoy the game, especially while you're new to it.

Established players might try to hunt down a rare ship, but if you're newer to the game don't worry about trying to collect trophies right now. Just enjoy the game~

Typically free Premium Ships are available through events that occur every month or few, and you really do collect a fair amount of them over time just by playing and figuring things out. There's no rush~

As there are multiple groups of "Ships" in the upcoming Santa Containers, I figured I'd try to be a bit proactive and get you folks some information about how the Drop Chances change when you've got all the ships in a specific group.

---

I'm going to use the Santa's Mega Container numbers for this example

Ship Groups together account for 16% Drop Chance.

Tier 5-7 Ships: 12%
Tier 8-9 Ships: 3%
Tier X and Rare: 1%

Example 1:

Situation: A player has all the available ships in the Tier 5-7 Group.

The Santa's Mega Container will continue to have a 16% Drop Chance for "Ships", so the Drop Chance is distributed proportionally amongst the remaining two groups. This will look at the Ratio of the remaining groups, and distribute amongst them such to maintain that ratio.

As the remaining groups have 3% and 1% respectively, we see there is a 3-t...

There are not available in the game at this time.

I do believe I've seen them sneak out once or twice during a special occasion or sale during the past few years, so keep your eyes peeled for them in case they resurface someday~

Smolensk was actually removed BECAUSE of how well she was snapped up.

She occurred in battle after battle after battle after battle after battle...

...after battle :D

So they took her off the shelf so the Smol-spam would dry up.

---

She's been nerfed twice since she was available. IFHE Change was big, and then the loss of double range affected her quite a lot as well. She's a fun ship, but not transcendent~
