So the launcher 2022.2 runs okay for each game, is that right?

Have these two games ever worked on this machine? Or never yet?

If you run the games' executables directly from a terminal command line, what output do you get there?

The DLCs ought to show in launcher v1 (which BTW is really a client like Steam, not a launcher as such), but there have been issues in taht area it is true.

Did you really want to use that launcher instead of Steam?

I've been re-thinking this situation. FYI Ironman doesn't actually do autosaves as such; rather it does automated forced saves at certain events and intervals. Its file name is the one you give it when you start the campaign, which really should not be the same as the MP autosave filename. In fact it is by default xxx_1066_Ironman.ck3 , it then just overwrites that file every save (rather than making separate autosave files).

So it is really hard to see how your MP autosave could possibly have overwritten it! You'd have to have chosen a filename for it that was identical to the MP autosave file name, which I'd assume you did not.

So I now have no explanation for the loss of your Ironman save file. It is definitely not in the /save games/ folder, nor on the Steam cloud?

Not really, sorry. It's a real puzzle how you can be getting this identical issue on two machines, but other users with Win 11 are not.

There is a slightly newer nVidia driver out now, Feb 2022, so may as well try that:

I didn't respond to your identical post 2 weeks ago because I frankly have no idea on this one.

Probably best to post it in the User Mods forum, as they have much more experience with the console commands than I do.

Good luck!

Those temperatures are okay.

You only have two sound channels (Speaker and headphones), which use the same MS driver. You hear this through both?

But if you think it is a power draw problem, you'll need hardware help with that.

The game doesn't use save slots, it uses the Windows file system. So if you write a file with the same name, it will overwrite a previous file with that same name, yes, as happens with any Windows app.

There is a backup which is Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/last_save.ck3 , did that retain your lost game?

Please delete your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/ folder, except any valued saved games, then start a new unmodded campaign. Is that any better?

IF not, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

If you revert to 1.4.4 and disable Royal Court, does good performance return for you?

You have several LiveKernelEvent and Bluescreen entries in that dxdiag. Are those related to this game or something else?

Please edit that pdx_settings.txt file. Find the renderer entry and change DX11 to OpenGL , save and exit. The ga... Read more

Do you really mean the v2 launcher? Or the v1 launcher, aka standalone Paradox client?

If you have DLCs on the Xbox and want them on the Xbox app on your PC - I think that's what you are asking? - I'm sure it is in Microsoft's power to facilitate that. Whether they do it as a matter of policy or require you to buy new copies, I don't know, sorry.

When you disable Vsync, you'll probably find the fps rate shoots through the roof. That can overheat the GPU, causing the computer to slow it down for its own protection.

What if you exit the Steam app entirely, and run ck3.exe manually? Any different?

Wouldn't that mean everyone got this problem then? Also, the OP has had this issue for a week or more.

If you. don't mind, can you please delete that error log (and debug.log while we're at it), play the game until the problem occurs, then attach here the new copies of those two files? Thanks!

The End117 said: I'm playing the windows store version of the game through gamepass, how would I go about these steps since its not the steam version?
MS bar users access to the game's installation folders, so all you can do is uninstall, delete the Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders , then reinstall.

That's a nasty looking error log. In your clean reinstall attempts, are you 100% sure there were no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again?

No mods involved?

I don't know then, this one has got me. There is clearly something in this machine doing this to you, but I simply am not seeing it. My guess is a clean reinstall of Linux would fix it, but I know that's a lot to contemplate to get a game going!

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new campaign - NOT any existing one.

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:
