FYI the game developers do not read this forum. I assume this is posted in Bug Reports already, if so each affected person ought to add to that thread to raise its profile.

Not enough memory resources are available to complete this operation.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Steam were supposed to have fixed this months ago, I'm surprised you are still seeing it.

Then the problem was due to the DLC's price of $0, which the Steam store couldn't handle. Folks worked around that by waiting until they ordered any other priced item (Paradox or not) from Steam, and adding that free DLC into the order.

Does that work for you?

Are there any crash logs generated by these crashes? They'd be under Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3

IF it is not a mod problem, Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Edit that settings.txt to say:

refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no

vsync=no

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode.

IF that doesn't help:

That pretty much confirms a launcher problem. Although why this affects you only, I cannot see.

Which error are you getting now? The code null one, the sql one, or both?

You might try deleting the launcher folder again, BUT then run a Disk First Aid against the Mac volume holding that folder.

Then use this installer for the launcher:
https://launcher.paradoxinteractive.com/v2/paradox-launcher-installer-macos
Then run any of those games.

Good luck!

Each of you please try MP in this game with some third person. This is to diagnose which of you two have the problem.

Thanks.

I am also experiencing frequent crashes on linux. no mods. 1.11.3. tried opengl mode as well, same problem. any workarounds are appreciated.
Crashes with the same symptoms (game won't start) and errors as posted above? If so please add into that user's reports in Bug Reports.

If different however, please start your own thread, with full problem details and history. Thanks.

That means that either your original Windows user profile is corrupt or bad in some way, OR it is running some app or utility that is getting in the way.

Int it, go into the startup apps area and disable everything, then reboot. Does EU4 then work?

For a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for this game
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders - In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Unload GeForce Experience.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh r... Read more

I know it would be unusual in MacOS, but if you have an antivirus app installed make sure ck3.app, dowser.app, bootstrapper-v2.app and Paradox launcher.app are in all its exceptions lists.

If you don't, I don't know what else could be causing this to you!

Are there any mods involved?

As the launcher runs, that folder simply must be there!

In Finder click on View - Show Path Bar. Then do you that folder as I described; what do you see in the Path Bar now?

Looks like you haven't done all I suggested:
"vsync"={
version=0
enabled=yes
}
Please do these steps:
in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

And please instal the 2024 nVidia driver

I see the launcher has updated itself but you haven't restarted it yet. If you do that, does it now show 2024.1 ?

Do you still get that sql error? If so please delete that file as suggested.

Can you both please try reverting to the openGL renderer in our launcher Game Settings menu?
