Do you have any sort of game controller or joystick attached? If so try unplugging those before starting the game, then test with a new galaxy.

If not, I don't really know what this could be, I'm sorry. You mention seeing other cases (here?), but I'm not recalling them despite supporting this game since release. Not that my memory is great these days, but ... !

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or better.

But we do recommend, if not require, the latest proprietary AMD drivers - can you try those?

Just to be clear - you DO see "1 of 3 editions" or something similar there? If so is there one which lists all the DLCs under "Add-ons included" ?

If not the issue is in your Xbox account in some way.

If it does, yes the issue is likely in your machine - can you do a test install on any other computer you might have access to?

You could try the good folks over in User Mods, who are more familiar with save game file structures than we here are.

My guess is there is just too much going on in this galaxy for the game to cope, possibly editing some players or stars or fleets out might help.

FYI we in tech support cannot read crash dumps, only the devs over in Bug Reports can. But as you are not on a supported distro, we can't have you post them there I'm afraid.

Assuming you are on the latest Mesa and AMD proprietary drivers, I don't have a lot to suggest really.

Has this always been the case, or it was okay up to some point?

Does it matter whether you are in fullScreen, borderless or windowed display modes?

Are there any mods involved?

JRGPayne said: Is this due to Paradox Launcher V2 being version 2024.1?
No, because the launcher on the MS platform comes with the game - that is what the -SE means. It does not self-update like it does with the Steam games, only when there is a game patch.

The DLC tab is not shown when the launcher detects there are none. Why that would be in your case I do not know!

In the Xbox app click on Library then this game. Does it say "1 of 3" editions or anything like that? If so click on that , if there is a version of the game shown... Read more

Actually that top temp of 61c will not be causing this problem; that happens up at 80c or so. Your problem is elsewhere - unfortunately!

Did you attach that save because it is the only galaxy this happens with? Or it happens in others too? And/or a new on... Read more

Probably you submitted by direct email; those tickets do get closed automatically as we only accept them from logged-in Paradox accounts, to ensure we are only helping genuine Paradox customers. You would have got an automated email explaining that.

As to your won't-start issue, it is likely unrelated to your slow play in a campaign with a huge empire or large wars - that's pretty normal actually.

That is not something we can help with. But your problem is very unlikely to need that. Make your own thread here, and give full problem details and history, and system details. Thanks.

BSoD are always Windows, driver or hardware faults I'm afraid. Next time you get one, record the text on taht screen, which should help pinpoint to cause of it.

The one in that dxdiag says:
Fault bucket 0x119_2_DRIVER_FAILED_SUBMIT_COMMAND_nvlddmkm!LDDM_SubmitCommand, type 0
Event Name: BlueScreen
Which points to the nVidia driver or hardware.

That CAN be caused by overheating, so Right-click on stellaris.exe, properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullscreen optimizations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply, and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select the fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

If still a problem

If you bought these DLCs from the Paradox store, as is likely, they will not automatically appear in Steam. You need to redeem the Steam Keys we sent you into your Steam account for them to be there.

Just paste your Steam Activation code AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC (which we sent to your email, and is in your Paradox Games menu) into the +Add a Game area of the Steam client application, and the game will be available in your Steam Library in that Client to download and install. You can also do this directly on the Steam website

Ah, that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users/{UserName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2024.1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/{UserName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT ck3.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

IF NOT though, Right click on Documents in the left column of File Explorer, just under This PC there. Go to properties, location. What does it say there?

Crashes after a set period regardless of game situation are likely to be overheating or a memory leak. And will 64gb of memory I'm pretty sure it is not the latter.

If you re-load the same save immediately after the crash can you play for another 30-60 minutes, or it crashes sooner - or even won't load at all?

How about if you start a new test campaign at that point, what happens?

You mean those blank ones down the lower right?

Are there any mods in use?

If you start a new test campaign do you still see that?

The contents of the whole Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folder can be moved to D: but so far as I know, not just the mods. You might ask in the User Mods forum though.

Look in the dlc tab of our launcher. Is it in there and enabled? If so, it is in the game.

Note that those songs will have certain requirements before they'll play, like being at war or being HRE emperor yourself or being protestant.

Please delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/ folder. To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and paste in ~/Library/Application Support/ . Then run the game from the PLAY Button in Steam, to reinstall the launcher.

If that does not get the launcher running, we will need these files from that same folder:

Attach ALL .log files Found here ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/

Meantime you can start the game from stellaris.app directly in Finder.

Are you saying literally any mod does this? Even ones that just give loading screens or music?

That other poster does not appear to have any problem at all, in fact.

Have they ever worked in this installation of this game? Or they've always been like this?

Either way, try a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Good luck!
