Now there are new instructions for this under the subscription model!

1. Find the file "dlc_load.json", usually located in "C:\Users\your_username\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV"

2. Right click it and select Edit (this can be done in any text editor)

3. To disable DLCs, add them to the "disabled_dlcs" list

Below is an example with the DLC Conquest of Paradise disabled, note the added prefix “subscription_dlc/”:

{
"enabled_mods":[],
"disabled_dlcs":["subscription_dlc/dlc/dlc010_conquest_of_paradise/dlc010.dlc"]
}

I am sorry but once an Ironman save is updated by a later version, it cannot be "downdated" back to the earlier version. It would only be if you'd kept a copy of the last save under 2.8.x that you could load it again.

What should have happened when you went to load the 2.8.x Ironman save under 3.0.x is it would have refused to load, warning you it was incompatible. However due to an oversight that did not happen when users hit the RESUME button in the launcher. I've alerted the devs to this and it should not happen again.

Our apologies for your lost campaign!

In Ironman saves are done automatically at specific events, rather than at set intervals. It is hard to see why it would save some times and not others for you, whatever the cause.

Cloud and local saves are made to different places on your local drive, so it doesn't even seem likely that for instance an antivirus app is getting in the way. However you should make sure that steam.exe and stellaris.exe are in the exceptions list of whatever AV app you use.

I assume this has not always been the case, it used to work up to some point?

The speakers and headset use different audio drivers, so I guess the problem is deeper in Windows. Does this also affect say CK2, HOI4 and Eu4?

kingdark said: I have the opposite problem. By hitting control and - the launcher zoomed way, WAAAAY out. It's so small, it's unreadable! Logically, there should be a counter but control plus + doesn't work. I have no idea how to fix it, because this makes selecting or deselecting mods impossible.
Try ctrl-shift-plus , using the + on the main keyboard on the = key.

You may have some files left over from your old installation. Here's my clean reinstall procedure:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

The game itself has not changed for some time, and I see no obvious cause of this problem in that dxdiag.

What I did notice is your C: drive is critically low on free space; Windows likes 10% free on its boot drive for elbow room. See if you can free up that much space there.

Assuming that doesn't help, Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

FYI the game is not supported on that Vega mobile chipset (Vega 11 is the minimum). But that would not normally prevent the game starting at all.

Are your AMD driver and Mesa versions completely up to date?

If you exit Steam completely and run the ./ck3 executable from a terminal command line, what output do you see there?

Most likely some mod or mods have not been updated for the 3.0.x game patches. You can check with their authors about that.

All the best!

This will not be anything to do with the DLCs, I am sure.

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods

- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/

- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mods_registry.json

- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite

Add Stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list. You should add steam.exe and C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.3/paradox launcher.exe to that list.

- subscribe to a few mods if you want them back

- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

Disable all the mods again, then both just enable one. If that goes okay, both enable another one, etc. That way you can pin down which mod is doing this to do.

I have seen reports of bad performance once an on-map empire gets too big, but not the symptoms you mention here.

This is just in this one campaign, is that right? You can start and play a new test one okay?

Any mods involved?
