You can look in your Steam achievements list for this game to see which ones you've got. They don't say what game name you completed them in, but they do give a date and time.

If you run the game from the Steam PLAY button it cannot be using the Epic account ... !

Maybe some screenshots would help?

Sorry but we cannot help with modded games here at all! Do you also get this in a galaxy that's never had any mods used in it?

I'll raise it with my manager now. AFAICS the only fix that could come from Paradox would be some way of bypassing the initial save file read, say a launch option - but does Gamepass even support those?

Have you tried contacting Gamepass support to get those save files deleted from their end?

Sorry, I should have said that To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Are your Windows User Documents folder, and Steam installation, on the same disk? If the first is on an SSD and the latter on a conventional hard disk, that might explain that perhaps - cloud saves are actually written out to a Steam folder, and only synced up to the Steam Cloud when you exit the game.

Well that is weird, because aside from the save game regime Ironman and non-Ironman are the same - whatever calculations occur on the 2nd of the month will be the same for both.

Delta Aquila said: The game stops every 3-4 months on the 2nd day of the month. It stops as if it's autosaving, but I have it on yearly autosave and not monthly.
Note that Ironman doesn't do autosaves as such; it does what you might call a forced manual save at certain points. So changing the autosave setting has no effect on it.

Doing a test run I see my game pauses ... Read more

We can't really draw that conclusion - different games written on different engines will use the hardware in different ways. This game and Vic3 use the same game engine.

Can you check the fps/refresh rate in both games for us please?

"The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem"
But I've already reinstalled stellaris, is this a seperate app I need to fix?
I think I'm already helping you in a ZenDesk ticket, is that right?

Neither the game nor the launcher changed recently, so I can only guess something else has changed on your system to cause this to those two unrelated apps (game and launcher). Quite what I'm not sure; a Windows, driver, or antivirus update perhaps.

What exactly happens when you run stellaris.exe directly from File Explorer? What do you see on the screen?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

You said above this happens in Ironman mode - are you saying it ONLY happens then, not otherwise?

Dos this also affect HOI4, Stellaris, and EU4?

If not, as a test revert to 1.8.x in. the Steam Betas tab for the game, and start a new test campaign - doe sit still happen there?

Maybe it is just the launcher - if you run stellaris.exe directly from File Explorer does the game start that way?

For the launcher problem Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam
OR
- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the Epic client

IF that doesn't help, in this folder... Read more

There is your problem! Or at least a problem, for sure.

What refresh rate are you seeing in the game? If it is more than 60, check you disable vsync and set that cap to 60, as I mentioned above (it was 120 before).

If it is 60 you should not e getting temps up at 80c. Clean out all air vents it has (compressed air cans are good for this). Make sure airflow to them is not blocked by anything like walls, books or whatever.
If that doesn't drop the temps enough, you probably have a faulty fan or a heatsink... Read more

That is the latest for MacOS but not Windows - what OS are you on?

In this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

The only thing I know of that's caused that for any game in the past is an antivirus app hanging onto that process. What one do you use? Make sure ck3.exe is in all its exceptions lists.

That sounds normal actually! Once it has loaded once it does not need to generate new caches, and Windows will have some of the game in its memory cache.

This is one particular galaxy, is that right? If so and no mods are involved, best to make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach that save there for QA to look into.

Or are you saying this happens in any new galaxy you start?

In task Manager-processes, is it ck3.exe or something else that you need to terminate to fix this?

Ah, that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2023.7.1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT ck3.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.
